Antti Ikonen
(Inspired by thread about Tuomo Lassila)
His keyboard parts sound great, especially on Fourth Dimension; although they are much plainer than Jens' ones. So it is very interesting to me what was/is he doing after Stratovarius?

Re: Antti Ikonen
At one time he was making ambient music (like Enigma type stuff). Last I heard he was teaching school somewhere in northeast Finland, but that was about 2 years ago so I don't know.

That would be SO awesome to have him be your teacher

Re: Antti Ikonen
Found some info from September 1998 (link):
Antti Ikonen released a solo MCD with some of his newer keyboard material. His new material isn't metal, it is somewhat ambient music. He has also played in a band called "Juhlavammat Juhlavammat" and they have released a couple of CDs.
...
(Antti) was asked to leave the band at the same time with Tuomo Lassila because Timo Tolkki was developing some new material with very difficult and fast keyboard stuff in it and Antti could not play solos well enough.
There are also some words on Lassila:
Tuomo Lassila is starting a career with his new traditional heavy metal band Firefall. The band has some very competent Finnish metal names, for example guitarist Heikki Warma, vocalist Peter James Goodman, flautist Sakari Kukko and Tarot vocalist Marco Hietala in their ranks and they are currently shopping for a recording deal. Tuomo also plays drums and flute in a progressive rock group "Tekniikan Ihmeet". They're also shopping for a recording deal.
Where are all these bands now? Well, except Firefall.

VIRTUAL PERFORMANCE CLUB
Presented by Antti Ikonen (Media Lab), Ilkka Niemeläinen (Cartes)
The vision is to create a virtual performance space accessible via an internet connection. The contents in this virtual club will not be video clips or streams, but abstract digital representations of live performances. At the moment some essential prototyping and testing is done, including sensor-based custom instruments and MIDI-to-visuals interfaces.
VPC is a joint project between Cartes and Media Lab. The hardware and software development is funded and realized by Cartes. Content production and UI design will be done by Media Lab students within the VPC study project and advanced Audio and MIDI courses, starting during spring 2003.
At the moment VPC is promoted by Cartes Art Machine, an acoustic, electric and MIDI band ready to plug in to the virtual performance space. The next live performance of CAM is on Saturday 8.3.03 10 p.m. in Tapiolan Kulttuurikeskus.
Project group:
2002: Ilkka Niemeläinen: concept development, Antti Ikonen: coordinator;
2003: Rasmus Vuori: director programming, Media Lab students: content production, UI design

Re: Antti Ikonen
Yeah, that's him alright.. :spin3:
Re: Antti Ikonen
It surely does. Well, it looks like he's gone on to bigger and better things too. And it's not like he's teaching gymnasium, he's teaching graduate level university courses. That's cool.

Re: Antti Ikonen
It looks like they wrote and performed the MUSIC for the dancers to dance to, I don't think they actually danced. Of course I could be wrong because it seems that these 2 men have multi-faceted talents.Elazul wrote:Are Antti Ikonen and Tuomo Lassila dancers?

To finish the set, I can point you to one more Antti Ikonen, the sportsman: http://www.afccampus.fi/pelaaja.phtml?id=197. But that guy doesn't look too much like him. Though, if he have a hair ...

Re: Antti Ikonen
Not everyone with the same name is the same person. I can't even think of how many Matti Virtanen's we have here in Finland

I'm going nowhere. All the way to nowhere.
Re: Antti Ikonen
yes, we know that Figaro. I think that is kind of the point that Efenstor was making with his latest post.
