well there is already an topic about an collection, wich is the reunion of the best songs of the band but...and the worst songs? they too do deserve their collection, so.....fans, choose the 10 worst stratosongs for an collection "the worst of stratovarius"eheheh

impossible, since (IMO) they haven't got 10 bad songs. only 1-2 sucky ones, the rest are classics.

What? Well, I agree to some of those, notably thin ice and papillon, which I can't stand myself, but then 4th reich, babylon, tomorrow, infinity and twilight time??? Man, those songs are classics, most of them old vintage stratovarius! Of course the taste of music is a personal matter, but still I have to say I disagree with you.

Worst means: the best from behind... in this case. So it doesn't have to be about the bad songs, but the least good songs.

Heh, well someone's opinion is their own, I guess... Mine is that while true fans may be able to appreciate all the songs, or "understand" them or whatever you want to say, they should also be able to criticize, since perhaps they know the band the best, at least from a listener's point of view, and not be afraid to do so.

This is a bad example, but for some reason I remember Chris Carter (the guy who created X-Files, i'm a nerd, i know ) saying that "the best fans are the ones who nitpick and criticize." paraphrasing of course, but in any case something to that efffect.

But anyhow, I'll have to think of this "worst of Stratovarius" thing. The first Jefferson Airplane compilation, "The Worst of Jefferson Airplane," (1970) was not a worst-of, I guess it was a best-of, I mean it's a great collection, but I suppose I'm not really making a point, just spouting off random trivia... Apologies ... Jesus, what WAS my point? damn... I should go to bed....


@ gabriel: The "030366" name was taken from Tolkki's birthday, March 3rd 1966... More trivia... and something I beat BEG to, hahaha
I actually like that song, it's just so random... but the guitar solo has NOTHING to do with it whatsoever, it's all happy and bouncy, so taken in the rest of the song it's sort of silly. On its own a nice solo, though...

I mean... despite what I said in the beginning about fans being able to criticize, I don't think Stratovarius has too many ultra-shitty, shitty songs. Some mediocre ones definitely, but only a few shitty ones. However, there are those "forgotten gem" type things that I'd love to see made into a compendium of sorts...

After hard thinking that's my conclusion (as usually).

YEAH MAN! strato least popular songs compilation would be good hueuehehue...indeed...metal frenzy make me sick...but black night isnt that bad at all...

Thin Ice and 030366 are imo quite odd songs. And even though I totally understand it was 1989 and the band was just starting, I honestly don't like Fright Night at all as an album.

well i think fright night better than dreamspace in a general sense...and even have some better songs than the ones from twlight time...if you know what i mean

I dunno, there's something about Fright Night that I really like. It's very modest and unpretentious... Heh, yeah Metal Frenzy is definitely not their best instrumental! But I'm always so fascinated with bands' evolutions...

and I love the False Messiah song.

Twilight Time is a definite improvement and Dreamspace is just... nuts.

I have to defend Fright Night. It's better, than TT, and is about the same good as DS imho.

For your list of the worst from each album, I agree, except for Dreamspace (Thin Ice is a real pain for the ears), Episode (I'd say Tomorrow) and Destiny (Years Go By). As for Visions, I love them all so it's impossible to name a worst one.

IMO We Are The Future, Babylon, Lord Of The Wasteland, Kill The King (kick ass solo) and Millenium are pretty great songs of Stratovarius

huh....black night is the best of its album, metal frenzy is really weird...we are the future is THE best from dreamspace...lotw and babylon really sucks, aoye isnt that bad, venus in the morning is average, millenium KICKS ASS... papillon and luminous are BORING...and i never heard kill the king or full moon...the way some guy talk about this last one i dont really hear it lol

I agree about Venus In The Morning, it's not THAT good, but Destiny is IMO the album you find the most avrage songs in. It only has five songs that are REALLY great imo (Destiny, SOS, 4000 Rainy Nights, Playing With Fire and Cold Winter Nights). About Full Moon, you should hear it, it's kind of fun to listen to it when you're drunk

On Episode, Babylon is the least good imho.
