Rate new album; what you hope that they do in future?

Post by Stratofanius » Sun Sep 04, 2005 11:45 am

I know that officially album hasn't been released (I mean release date) but it's in stores already and many people has bought it. So... your opinions of the new album?

And another question at this topic:
What do you hope that they do in future? Back in fast double bass -songs?
Or do you hope that they continue with this "new way"?
Do you even want new albums? Should this be their last album? Or should they do many albums?

Tell your opinions to us.

EDIT: I haven't heard it yet, but I have ordered it. I can't wait!

What I don't want is that they try to release a Visions II or Episode II. I'll listen the new album tomorrow. If they want to come back to double bass roots it will be welcome. But please keep original and not try "X part II"

The clips I heard were good. The songs are different, but not bad. I think they will have a hit here, just by virtue that [eople have been looking forward to this album for quite a while. Plus, I'm sure a number of copies will sell out of curosity. Lets hope these new fans buy the older classic albums as well! :)

Lets hope its not their last album, but that is up to the band to decide. :)

Maybe this album is just an experimentation--thats OK--most bands do that at some point in their career.

There might be some recruitment of new fans with this CD==especially after USA tour! ;)

Also I voted for "very good". An excellent the album is not like Episode etc. But I don´t tell more about the new album, coz I´ve made a "review" on the Finnish section about the album.

Of course I would like that they make more albums in the future. Because this album is just a therapy one which represents their reborn and new style, they need to make more albums too. 8)

They should change their style a little bit back to more power influenced style, but without double-bass. So, a bit faster songs (not Speed of Light style) with more powerful solos (specially Jens´s) without double bass. I´d say Kotipelto´s "Egypt"-album had the style quite much I wanna Strato now to do. And of course I would like to hear songs written by TK and Porra too. :P

Good one icebreaker! I feel the 2 songs I've heard in the single as a resurrection for Strato. Is a new reborn for the band, it could be as a base for next projects. Some new "ground" to stand and from then release new material. Although I think the old era is ended, it could be really awesome for them to recover the style of their first albums, and also people who have listened to it says it remembers a lot to pre-4th dimension albums.

If Jens could do more solos, and they could turn into kotipelto's first album, it would be really good! It could get so much strong, more heavy... But first at all: keeping the strato-magic in them! :)

You're talking about Kotipelto's solo albums. Waiting for the Dawn really was just "Ok" album to me, but Coldness was brilliant! That style is little different than in WFTD.

In fact, I hope that Stratovarius will return with double bass. Of course I really don't like that Infinite-style, that almost every song has that boring double bass drumming etc., I want that they use double bass only in some songs. Maybe in their next album the could do something like 9 slow/mid tempo songs, one ballad and two fast songs. I hope that. Really.

As they´ve done now four albums around 9 songs on them + bonuses, I´d say it´s not so likely that they´d have 12 songs on the next album too. I expect again 9 tracks + 1 bonus. :P

Also eternity_strato had nice opinions. Actually I agree too with some ppl that the new album is related someway to pre-4th Dimension=sung by Tolkki material.

I voted "It was awesome! One of the strato-classics!". The album is awesome, but maybe not the best album of Stratovarius. Songs are great and the sound is so fresh!

I hope that next album should have:

- More melody (if it's even possible :D )
- More keyboards and keyboard solos
- Maybe a little bit double basses in some part of songs.

i liked the album a lot (the songs ive heard anyway) but i wish they wrote an instrumental and or a very fast one, just one would be fine, i dont want them to turn into a speed metal band

Well for live shows they've got plenty of that sort of material so it'll be okay.

Today I bought the Limited Edition :D
It´s a great album IMO with a very fresh style.
But I hope on the next album will be more speedy songs and more Keyboard-Solos.
Stratovarius has the fastest (Metal-)Keyboard-Player in the world so why shouldn´t Jens show his skills

Not very good.

Everyone mentions the lack of double bass drums, but what about the keyboards? Keyboards are missing, and not just solos. The best album in terms of rhythmic and atmospheric keyboard sounds is Destiny. This new album sounds a little too dry without a strong keyboard presence.

4 or 5. Can't decide it so soon, if it's going to be a classic or not. Ask it after the show. ;)

"New way"... Well, double-bass is missing but I think that their musical changes are not so big that you can call it like "new way". I hope that in the future they're gonna release albums, where you can find songs composed by TK and JJ.

well i think that double bass drum is not the reason of this "strato repetition"

I think timo tolkki is a genius musically talking and what would be perfect ( in my opinion ) would be a symphonic power metal album, with more strings and solos. This doesnt mean another elements.. this means new strato + clasical influences without repeting

Not very good

Far too less of the famous Jens-keyboards. The songs don't sound really new for me. Sounds like thousand other bands. Maybe so many of you just like it, because you are fans for such a long time and don't want to admit that the songs are too slow and too boring. I don't mind, when a song is slow - but there are no good melodies and as mentioned before too less keyboard sound. And too less solos.

Ask someone else about the album, who is not a big fan and he will tell you the same. This album cannot compete with all the other new albums of maybe Threshold, Sonata Arctica, Nightwish, Kamelot...

But as I have written some weeks before: I am really looking forward to hearing the next album.

Or maybe many of the ppl here just likes the new album because there´re no ultra fast songs with doublebass or just that the too fast songs have now disappeared.

I´d not say that, coz what about those are saying who just don´t like the "old" genre or the genre of the bands you mentioned at all.  Perhaps that kind of ppl even likes the new way of Strato...

I asked someone to tell me her thoughts, and she found the new album very cool. She is not a big StratoFanatic, but she likes some of the songs, and the new album as well.
