Hi eternity_strato,

Yes, yesterday I went to the stratovarius gig here in Monterrey, Mexico, and I purchased 3 t-shirts. I'm glad you started this discussion because, indeed, the shirts are different from the ones they sell here in the website. I don't know if they're original or not, but they look original. How about you? Do you know how to tell if they're original?

If they were sold in the same venue and has the following quote under the lily it's official: "© Stratovarius Latin American* Tour Official T-Shirt". The tour dates are on the back. Also check the tag, it must have the Lily and Stratovarius logo.

*Put the right tour here, as USA, European, Japanesse, and so on.

Rock On!

well the thing is, our shirts (monterrey gig) have the tours for the mexican, american and candian tours, saying "elements part 2, 2005" with a lily, not the new one and some have the pics of the elements part 2 cover and band members....

Have you bought those shirts inside the venue?
Here in Brazil for all the dates the official merch was sold inside the venues and all the shirts had the new lily with the tour dates for south america on the back.
But outside the venues you could find all sort of shirts - of course they're not official.

It’s pretty strange, specially because they even play songs from the elements albums... I’m afraid you haven’t bought the official stuff. :(

I didn't see any shirts in the venue either... does this mean not every concert gets official merchandise? In other words, if, for example, there are few fans in the city where they're playing, they don't bring any official merchandise?

I agree with Cristiane - sorry, but it seems like you have got unofficial ones.

I found out recently, that to sell merchandise inside a venue there is a fixed fee, and was surprised/annoyed that it was pretty extortionate. Smaller bands that support or go on early at festivals can get really ripped off, yet they're probably the ones that fans can't get the merchandise easily for on the internet and in shops. :x

This is for the UK, so I don't know if it applies everywhere, but there may be smaller venues where it's not viable to have merch sales.

I think so too. Just imagine that for example Kotipelto "hates" the Elements times and now the band has got new logos etc. Also there was never an Elements pt 2 tour. So, the shirt you found must be pirate.

@Cristiane: Your new avatar is also beautiful, but I prefer the old one. It was so cute. :) :luv3:

Sometimes the unofficial shirts are really crappy... the quality of the material really sucks, after sometime your black shirt will turn gray and the pics will start to "peel".
So if you really like buying band shirts it's better to buy official stuff.

Thanks for the tip, I'll be careful not to buy non-official stuff now :D

The band gets no cut of the sales, it all goes to some vulture that makes cash of the fame of a band they don't care about. I think it sucks... :x but ppl can buy whatever they like :D but know that generally :

Inside venue - Official licenced merch, quality assured, band gets a cut of the sales.

Ouside venue - unofficial, band gets no profit from the sale of their own artwork/logo etc., quality may or may not be so good.

I have 2 Strato T-shirts: the Phoenix Flame from StratoShop. And, a supposed real Tour Shirt imported from Helsinki from Rockabilia, a mailorder company which sells Rock/Metal merchandise. I checked&it DOES have the Official Strato trademark. I know it is a damn good-made shirt. I have washed it several times&has not faded a bit! But, original or not, I like it&it is a great-looking T-shirt!

I order all my strato-merchandise from StratoShop, I have the "Elkments" T-shirt, the "Elements World Tour" T-shirt with a BIG Firelily on the front, an Elements 2 longsleeve (also with a big Lily on the front, the aurumn one this time, I'm wearing it right now) and an Intermission ziphood with a little Lily on the chest and a big picture of the angel that is on the Intermission cover on te back. I plan to get many things from the new 2005 collection :p

Well...I bought 2 shirts INSIDE the venue and they are different from the ones in the shop.

Like, the Back to Madness one have the tour dates behind instead of saying BTM.

And I don't find any tag saying "this is official"...

But I like them, so...whatever.

As long as you buy it inside, you can be 100% sure, that it's official. Do you think, that they'd let some people stand there selling some unofficial stuff? No way!

Yep, inside is your guarantee. They have to pay heavily to be able to sell merch inside, anyhow.

Mine to the UK took anti-time. It was delivered before the "track your order" page said it had been sent. It was about 8 days after placing the order.

StratoMail - Faster than the speed of light!
