Is it correct, that TK sung on "False News Travel Fast" on Sonata's "Silence" album? I've heard rumors. that the last line at the very end of that song isn't sung by Tony Kakko, and listening to it, i just can agree that whoever's singing there, doesn't really sound like Tony.
Anybody knows more?

Yes, it is TK singing on False News Travels Fast, Kakkos voice range doesnt go anywhere near as high as TKs

Stratoplayer is right, TK is the one who sings the last line. I was just like u some time ago, didn't recognized his voice, but them...I listened with more care and saw the light...[Ok Equi, this is not a epic song...stop now!]

Well, the mistery is solved

Tony Kakko's vocals are interesting but not because of his vocal range. Hell, I can sing that high, and I'm not exactly operatic. I like his vocal work because of his execution and tone. He can get emotion across very well with his voice, which is hard for many people.

Well, I did not imply I did not like his singing because of his low voice range, I really like it, but I said he does not go that high, so its Kotipelto (no confusion now, right? )

I think Tony Kakko can sing pretty high notes... But it sounds more forced than when Timo does it... lite in blank file when tony kakko goes up to the high notes in the second chorus it sounds kinda like hes gonna choke... but I like him

But remember that Blank File was made at that time when the band was still young, and Kakko hasn´t yet found the proper singing technics at that time. Nowadays he knows his limits as we know.

Forgive if I'm wrong but it seems to me that the first two albums of Sonata had a very heavy tweaking on the vocals, because Tony couldn't sing that well at shows(I'm not implying anything bad... ). All the mistakes he did and things. But it seems that from Winterheart's Guild and after he sings live as on the albums. At least when I saw them, he was very accurate!

mmm... Sonata Arctica. I don't like this band. I have two albums of them (Winterheart's Guild & Reckoning Night) but I find their sound very boring. (You know too much double bass..) There are few songs that I may like of them. Winterheart's Guild had some good songs but Reckoning Night was totally dissapointive! I think that Thunderstone is a senior band than Sonata..

And did you know that, when Sonata Arctica played "false news travel fast" live, in the exact point where Kotipelto sings in studio, Jari plays the main guitar riff of Speed of light? maybe a tribute to Strato

That would be Jani... , Jari is the ex-Strato bass player, Jani Liimatainen is Sonata Arctica's guitar player...

@Maniac, I actually liked the first 2 cds over the last 2 (Reckoning Nights is warming up to me though), especially Kindom for a Heart, Black Sheep, Wolf and Raven, Replica, Sing In Silence, Full Moon, My Land and Revontulet

Sonata Arctica always manage to have some unexpected turnes in their live sets... When they in the my land solo played "I was made for loving you baby etc" was really weird

Well, that is weird but I guess that's an allegiance for the bands that they listen. I GUESS

Yeah... Live vocals were quite horrible in the early Sonata days.

Also, I believe Tony's range is not that wide, but its all placed in the high's. I like it anyway.

Well yeah, but being able to sing high and being able to sing well are two things that need to be learned seperatly. I mean no offense, but what good is being able to sing high if you are out of key more then half the time?
