Post by Hommeout » Thu May 04, 2006 12:40 am

Hi Strato Fan!!!

I would like to know if Jari's bass on Destiny album as been record direct or record with a amp and a mic.
It's also could be a combination of both sound take.
If someone know something about it,please let me know.
Thanks

He used Ampeg cabs, I'm pretty sure they were mic'd. He also uses Boss Overdrive. The sound is different from Visions or Episode (where he used ESP basses) or from Infinite onwards (where he used Ibanez) because he was playing Tobias instruments for that record.

I love Jari's tone, really full and rich. Let's see how Lauri's sound will affect the next album!

that is a reallly amazing effect. Probably the best Overdrive / Distortion effect you can find !

About the bass that Jari uses at the moment.
One is a 12 years old Ibanez SDGR Custom made model (you cant find it from any shops), and one is a SDGR basic model (maybe the SR1306PM ?). Both 6-strings bass guitars.

I don't like Boss Pedals. I can recommend much better overdrives.

For bass, I use a Russian Electro-Harmonix Big Muff. Fuzzy as hell, and really saturates the sound.

But some Boss stuff is good.

IMO the bass sound on Elements album is the best...
U know, it comes more in the front in this albums, and its just very good...What can one say else...?
The silence wich fills our hearts...
The Black Silence...
