I wonder, is it just me who would like this to change? I wouldn't be bothered if it was at the middle of the setlist, but it's always the same ending... It's become too repetitive in a way and predictable.

Black Diamond is their "official" ending song. Every band has the ending song, so that the audience knows that the show is going to end soon.

Hell no, I hate medleys. Black Diamond is their greatest hit, so it's good idea to end the set with it.

Agreed totally!

Babius: They should change the order or change some other songs on the setlist to reduce the repetitiveness , but the ending song can stay same.

Maybe they could chose another song for changing a bit the end of their gigs? Why not?

But in Paris 1999, after Black Diamond, Timo K. said : "We have one more song for you tonight ... and this song is extremely slow ballad."
And the audience : "oooooohhhhhhhh"
And Timo : "The song is .. Father .. Time !"

For me, "Black Diamond" is like THE hit song with which I discovered Stratovarius. So, I think it would be a little blasphemy if the band took it away from the setlist. And, IMHO, "Black Diamond" is a perfect show closer song.^^

Black Diamond is good ending song, but I like Legions too, and it's also good ending song. So sometimes they could play it on their last song.

well yeah, but Black Diamond is a song that up to now they are unable to get rid of.
I think the possible variation they could make to the setlist is including both, songs that the audience is expecting to listen and songs that the audience would probably get amazed by listening and not necessarily were expecting to listen, i mean, not to be so predictable.

Like inlcuding Night Time Eclipse instead Seasson of Change, or The Hands of Time instead Father Time. That's my opinion, i mean, most of us had already enjoyed those classic tunes, more than once, so i wouldn't mind not listening to Kiss of Judas or Father Time if i will get the chance to ENJOY The Abyss of Your Eyes or The Hands of Time. And i absolutely think that Black Diamond should never be out of the setlist.

Or playing more Eternity and taking We Hold the Key to the setlist too or even Falling into Fantasy, that would be amazing + some old stuff like Madness Strikes at Midnight or Out of the Shadows...

Anyway, they´re getting better as they now are playing Will My Soul..., "Million Light Years" and Phoenix instead of some classic setlist ones. At RMJ they didn´t play Father Time at all!

Personally it doesn't bother me, but i do think it is somewhat of a fitting end to the shows, and if someone else thinks not then hey, their choice.

I don't know. Of course it would be nice to hear different endings also but... HHAL, Distant Skies, Against The Wind, Speed Of Light, Father Time for example those could be some alternatives.
But hey!, what about ending gig with something "sad" like Season Of Change, but that's just my opinion

Yeah I'd say keep it... but what WOULD be good to end it off with... would be Run Away.. anyone think so ? but it would have to be more popular.... - but it's so simple and so catchy and so easy to sing along....

what i did hate last night when i saw them though.... was with the encore, TK came on saying that they have 2 more songs to play. Then a crew guy put out the acoustic guitar for tolkki - ok.... people, most the crowd.. were shouting black diamond.

I had to fucking shout Forever to get TK happy - he sure looked disappointed that noone was shouting it :/

But of course they did play Black Diamond last :p

Hmm... Black Diamond is maybe not the best of all Stratovarius songs, even if it's very good, but I think it's ok as its place. It's kind of tradition nowadays, so why to change it.

In my opinion Black Diamond is not one of the best songs of Stratovarius, but... It is quite legend!

It's not the best Stratosong, but it definitely is the best for the very last song of a gig, all the excitement caused by the long moments of waiting to hear the most legendary song of the band just bursts when Jens starts to fool around with his keyboard and then starts playing Black Diamond

its the perfect song to end an amazing night..
so id say.. keep it this way!
