Hmm...? Fans didn't like Elements 1 because Tolkki composed it by feeling??? Well I don't think that's the reason... :P

Looking forward to it, I'm sure. Tolkki is a great composer and player.

Tolkki always compose about feelings and what his "heart" says and sometimes it's like Elements, sometimes like Destiny

I think some people did not like Elements because of the "religious" ideas expressed in the songs.
Also, some people thought it had too much symphonic metal.
I though Elements 1 was OK.

I always thought of them as being more spiritual ideas than religious. People get so uptight about that issue. I thought the symphonic addition was a great style shift for awhile, but I'm glad to see they didn't get stuck in a rut with it. Some is nearly always good, but it can be overdone. I like when they mix it up with some heavier elements.

As for the inspiration for composing, I think any songwriter has GOT to write from his feelings and experiences. As soon as they try to "write what the fans want", it's like the kiss of death. Instant creative stagnation. Hit or miss, they gotta write from the heart.

I think that Elements 1 is a very very good album! Terrific songs, such as: Soul of a vagabond, Fantasia, Papillon, Elements can't be written everyday!

 You like Elements!
Seriously now, I like Elements Pt.1 very much as it is the first album I bought, and it has a special place in me. And one of the reasons I liked Stratovarius in the first place was the spiritual messages of this album.

If Stratovarius comes back with new kickass power metal album, I'm satisfied. I don't want that the new album turns out to be another hardrock cd, like the latest one is.

Tolkki-update from his MySpace blog:
Monday, September 11, 2006

SONGWRITING UPDATE

Everything has gone very smoothly and I have written seven songs by now.
I expect to complete the songwriting by the Stratovarius tour that kicks off from
Canada. After that we will record the demos and enter the studio somewhere around
February. Release date should be either October 07 or February 08 followed by a world tour.
I already have the album title and for those who want to guess, it´s 2 separate words that both start with R. The song material is more traditional Stratovarius, it is very melodic and quite reminescent to Visions/Episode era. After last album I wanted to write more traditional Stratovarius songs. There are double bassdrum songs as well.
I´ll keep you updated about how things go and try to check in also from tour.

Cheers, Timo

What can be said? :) If this next album's style does reflect the Episode/Visions era, it will be very good&well accepted by fans.
That is an assumtion on my part, of course but those two albums were Stratovarius' best(during Koti-Era). IMO, of course!

WELCOME AND THANK YOU
Current mood: excited

So here it finally is, our official myspace page, after some struggling with a couple of fake sites. I am typing this in our bus on a parking lot in Springfield and it´s 2 hours to the showtime.
We have been amazed by the response of the Quebec and Montreal audiencies, we simply couldn´t believe it! Many thanks for everybody who came to see us and gave us so much.
The songs for the new album have been written and I just gave them to the guys. We will start working on them after we come home from this tour. I would estimate that we go to studio around February 2007.
So enjoy, have a good time and thanks for all. The guys send their hellos to you all as well.

Cheers, Timo Tolkki
TT got the songs composed. :) Next we hope they keep on schedule.

elements 1 is a great album indeed. it's very well inspired musicaly and lyricaly, and it brings some new influences in strato's music. i personaly like it when it has progressive elements in it. same thing for part 2. i cant say which one i like most, i find they're very alike. there are songs that i associate from the 2 albums, like elements with alpha&omega, find your own voice with i'm still alive, season of faith's perfection with a drop in the ocean, eagleheart with liberty. its interesting how they can give the same feeling, i wonder if timo didnt do that on purpose. anyway, the two elements are very good albums.

Since this next album is taking awhile, I assume the guys are going to really put some serious thought&work into it. :) Who knows? It might be the next "VISIONS"! ;)

Argh, where did I post the previous update? :roll: Anyway here's a new one :) ;
TT's is Germany now from the looks of it...
Packing...why do I always have to leave it to the last moment? Aaargh this is hopeless, what do I need? This and that, and more of that...man...I have to get up at 5 for 7.25 flight.
Do I have everything now? Couldn´t someone just come here and do this for me? No? I guess I have to do it myself. I have the hard disk, with the clicks for the new songs and I played some guitars already. I had to learn the songs again, because I kind of forgot them during the tour:) I´ll be back on Tuesday with lots of photos and hard disk full of Jörg´s drums.
It starts again!! And it´s gonna be cool. Looking forward to that 200 gig world tour...
Halloween? Haven´t even noticed...:) Loooooove, Timo

Did Timo mean 200 cities to visit or did he mean a gig in 200* something like 2007 or 2008? Anyway, I guess they will stop in Montreal again. I hope so...

Well, when you break it all down, 200 gigs for a world tour is about right when you add Europe, SA, NA, Canada, CA, Asia all together. It could add up to 200 gigs total, or close to it. Usually bands start off in Europe, and then swing through the other Legs. If they do 2-3 gigs a week consistently, for almost a year, its possibe that may be done. But, they would be one very exhausted group at the end, I imagine! :)
