Nice to get some new topics at this section too!
Well, to say, they´re important for me because of awesome, well-composed music, lots of energy & emotion without forgetting many wise lyrics. And of course because of very talented musicians!

Re: Why Stratovarius is so important to you?
Great topic idea! +5 to ST for this thread!
Stratovarius music just sounds good, IMO. The music is hard, yet with symphonic elements that I like. Its not wimpyish or shoddy. And the lyrics, I think, are just as important as the music/sound itself. The lyrics mean something--convey a message without being patronizing or fanatic. The message in alot of the songs is: love, peace, tolerance, the Golden Rule(you get what you give), and don't give up on the world or yourself--its never too late.
Also, the members seem to be friendly&care what fans think which is very commendable because most bands seriously don't give a shit.
I discovered Stratovarius at a low point in my life&after I heard their music I know I had to hear more. Their music uplifted me so much at that critical time! I have not gotten tired of it yet! There are lots of other bands that I enjoy listening to&I have fav artists in all genres, but Strato stands out from the rest as being who they are, the product they create& the feelings their music instills in those of us that listen.
Thanks, Strato, for everything!

I like it alot because it makes best music in the world, althrough i thought that SA was better, but it's shinyness faded like their UnOpeded's.
The first ones that i heard were from Destiny and both Elements, awesomeness once, awesomeness still, next i got introduced into Visions and Infinity, more awesomeness, and then i got Episode, same awesomeness, then next victim of me was Stratovarius and Fourth Dimension, Really much awesomeness again.
Stratovarius is awesome, i need to get rest of the albums.
btw is fullmoon (the special song) any good?

As StratoFanius said, it's not that important anymore, but the old shit still rocks my ass off. Well composed music with awesome players. Just fun to listenen and to play. Nowadays I have gone a little "astray" from the powermetal meaning I'm basically listening to Thrash,Death,Black,Gothic metal. Ofcourse with some melody in them, I just hate some old blackmetalbands without melodies and the old "Bushblack" sound. Adn blah blah and blah. I could go on for years so I'll just stop now.

Re: Why Stratovarius is so important to you?
For me it was the small bit of metal that closed the gap between classical and heavier music. They broadened my horizons, let's say.
Through the years, learning every bit of news, made me think (and I'm sure for others too), that we're part of the same family.
And even though, like others, I don't listen to so much power anymore, there is always some space in my playlist for Stratovarius.
They used most of my thinking time for about 2 years, so there's no chance I'll forget anything about this band.

Okey! Stratovarius and their music calm me and I come so happy allways when I hear any songs by STRATOVARIUS! And I like all of Strato Albums! Except first one.
BTW: I think that in this topic you can ask anything about Stratovarius from other Strato Fans. If you just have something to ask and someone answer then.
And I hope that this works

Re: Why Stratovarius is so important to you?
I'll try to make a long story short, explaining why Stratovarius is so important to me.
I've been a metalhead since 1987, I started with glam and classic heavy metal, and then I fell in love with that powerful, speed and melodic music that Helloween was doing. And then I loved Gamma Ray in the same way.
Around 1994 - 1995, music became crappier and many events made me think that Heavy Metal could be dying: Michael Kiske quitted Helloween, Bruce Dickinson quitted Maiden, Metallica released the Load album, almost all the USA 80's bands were gone forever, the classic bands weren't doing any albums... the only Metal that was surviving at that time were Death Metal and shredding guitar players. Of course I turned to the shreds as I never liked the growling. But no shredder really made any deep impact on me as old bands used to do (a.k.a. Maiden, Helloween, etc.) I really felt Metal was dying, that it was no hope.
Then, on 1997, a new album catched my eye at the music store: Visions. It was an unknown band from far-far-away-country Finland, but I remembered that I've already read that name in some magazine, where it was told that "if you like Helloween, you'd like Stratovarius". So, I got a good feeling about it and bought the album right away. Yes, without even have listened to it or any Strato song ever.
I run to my friend's house and played it. That Vision version has Black Diamond as first song, and since the very first keyboard note my heart was beating faster with every new note, with every instrument, with that awesome voice. Metal is not dead, Stratovarius is here!
Stratovarius became my favorite band ever since, in 1998 I signed up in a mailgroup list (run by a guy that then disappeared, Gary), I was the 30th member, and 2 years later it had more than 1000 members, even the Stratoguys posted there once in a while (mostly Jens and TT). Saddly this list is pretty much dead now, mostly because the forums were born, but it was really active back then, around 30 - 50 mails per day.
Stratovarius still is and always be a very import thing in my life, not only for their outstanding music, also for all the friends they brought to my life. I've met wonderful people all over the world, who've been there with me in the really happy times (like going to party a whole week on foreign countries
) and also been ther for me on the hard times, with the best support words and advices I ever could get from a friend
.
I love you, Stratovarius.

It´s getting quite same here too that I´m not more so much into power metal nowadays, but still Strato has been my favourite band (the reasons why I´ve told here...). And I´m sure they will always have a certain place in my heart and mind!
Who would like to sell me the II-album with band cover (2nd edition)? Then my collection would be perfect.

Re: Why Stratovarius is so important to you?
Nice thread!
Well I am not a long time metal head, in fact my first taste of metal was around 2002 when I was in 9th grade. At a friends house where we were doing a school project, he was a metal head since (played drums and what not) and I remember when he put on the Radio and played Megadeth's "Ashes in Your Mouth". I had never heard anything like that at all and was completely baffeled, he then said something like "Really? Then check THIS out." And the intro of Stratosphere just numbed me. From that point I knew that I would not only play guitar but play like TT and the rest.
To this day I've never looked back. Strato pretty much gave me a musical part in my life I never had before, obviously I have broadened my musical choices considerably (Not only in Metal like Heavy, Melidic Death, Power, Prog, Hard Rock etc, but also into Tecno and Classical, since I never really heard music before.) Strato has always been since then my #1 band and I always enjoy listening to them on my iPod in the middle of (most) class(es)!

There was one cover with the feet, too which looked cool!
I think it was said only 1000 copies were done with Stratovarius II as the name. Yes, those copies would be very valuable indeed!!!
The only "main" Stratoalbum missing from my collection is "The Past&Now".

Re: Why Stratovarius is so important to you?
I always had a love for metal, and I always found classical music appealing (this was back before I became serious about music). I just felt like I wanted more variety, something fresh and different... I didn't like growling vocals back then so I ignored most black metal and death metal (I love those types now though!).
I went to a record store, and decided to pick something out. I'd heard someone at my school talking about Stratovarius, he was a great guitar player and I respected his opinion on these matters.
So at this record store, I saw Infinite (it had just been released). I bought it. I realised it was a pretty damn good album, and the band were something special. Then, my friend lent me a copy of Episode a few weeks later. That completely, utterly blew me away and I havn't looked back since.

It was pretty active between 1998 - 2001, really good discussions were going on there. I think the last mail I got from that list was on 2005, after "Stratovarius" album was released. Stratotimo...Stratofanius is right.
Fullmoon suck REALLY hard. The worst song ever. I even took it out of my...of all playlists that I have on iTunes.
Well, Stratovarius is important to me because with them, and Helloween, I got into the world of metal. And I'm planning to get out of it for now...and because of them, power metal is/was my favorite genre for a long time. And just for that. I love their music. It rocks and rocks again.
But then Hammerfall & Freedom Call came and fucked up the power metal scene. [No Offence] And I basicly stopped listening to power as much as before. Long live Melo Death!
But I always buy Strato's albums, go their concerts, buy their shit...ect. And I still like them and power metal a lot. Just not as much as before...
But thanks to Strato, I learned to think for myself. My bro & sis like pop and ballads, only and so with Strato I went my own way. And I thank them for that.
Thanks Strato!

I bet TTs throat was raw after recording that song.
And, thats true about the stereo---if you want to wake someone, sneak earphones on them, then turn the Volume up on "Full Moon".
But, shit, every band has one "turd" of a song so, "Full Moon" is Strato's smelly dump.

I said this once on Timo Tolkki's myspace site but i'm not going to get into in much depth here, but to put it simply...
Stratovarius saved my life!
I thank each and every member for bringing me out of a dark period of my life and making me see back then, that in the future, there can be joy like I have now with my lady and our baby on the way!
The lyrics and music of Stratovarius inspired my soul to burn again!

I haven't heard all, but i think most, and they are all atleast listenable, i think my least favorite is BlackDiamond, it's just boring, i think i just don't like things that have lots of fame.browneyedgirl wrote:![]()

ROTFLMAO
I'm laughing at Stratofanius' use of Emoticons in that post!
Very Creative/expressive!
We get the point, Stratofanius!
Seriously, you have to wonder about these people who say they like EVERY Stratovarius song.

@exe knight;
If you started listening to Stratovarius a long time ago (that is more than 10 years) you'd understand why it's so loved by many. Or it just depends on what album you listen to first I guess.
(Btw, my poll is still open
