Well, What do you think about the album?
For me, I have to say that i don't like it very much...And i'm not a metal (Manowar) head, I listened Classic "Rock" Opera for a long time ago, like Roger Waters's "Ça ira" or Paul McCartney's Ecce Cor Meum and
the other classical albums he had made.
First of all, there is too much athmosferic elements for me, too boring.
I can't hear the rock elements here, just a few maybe, like the drums on some tracks, but thats all i can say.
And the last thing of my humble opinion is the excess of synths, I would like it more if the music were real orchesta with a big number of musicians on it.
In the other hand, i have to admited that some of the songs are very good, one of them is Silence of the Night, Sowle's voice made me speechless. Great talent, very Impressive.
Al least, the album made me feel that i really miss Stratovarius
sorry for my english

I really loved it! The atmospheric elements are one of my favorite things about the album! The Music really fit what was going on in each song, Vocals were top notch to! Timo couldn't not have chosen anyone better for there roles! Listen to the whole album from start to finish on your bed(in cold room temperature) in pitch black so all you can here and see(in your mind) is the songs.
Each song transported me to this world Timo created and the music really set the tone of whats happening very well. I felt like I was there, and I could feel the emotions of the characters in the opera. You say there arnt many "Rock" elements in the album but the whole album is composed mostly in the same way a Rock album would be composed. You will never hear a normal opera go like this. And above that there were some pretty cool drums, bass and a distorted guitar to add to the rock effect.
All I have to say is I cant wait for the DVD to come out, to watch this album in 7.1 surround sound. Also Cant wait to see what happens next in the story! Oh and next Stratovarius album

I already figured out how to play most of Last night on earth

Have only heard the free clips, need to hear more to give proper judgement. I won't be able to get this(or anything new) for a good while now, as i'm saving for a mega holiday to the Maldives in 2010, going to suprise my girlfriend, also need to find out the size of a certain finger of hers now...

I can't help myself but the only singer on that album whom I would call a "great talent" is Aino Laos (Freya). She's really cool. I have to check some her solo albums, because I'm very curious what's her own music like.
Although I really like Twilightning, Heikki is not such a great singer and his vocals in Sadness of the World are strange. I don't think it was a good idea to let him sing so high, his vocal range isn't that wide.
And Sowle? She might be a great talent, but I would expect more energy or more life in her parts. I feel sleepy when she's singing.
Generally speaking I quite like the album. But I still miss something there and I don't know what's it...

oh man what you talking about Heikki was amazing! Singing that high was no problem at all I Loved it! He does have a little accent though when singing but that doesn't make him a bad vocalist.
As for Sowle I felt the most emotion from her singing, and Aino Laos was just as impressive. If you guys are listening to this album at an given time then try listening to it from start to finish at night, in a cold room thats pitch black. Its a very different experience.

That's perfect! In "Silence of the Night" she plays a young woman who is trying to fall asleep at night. That's exactly what you should feel.

Did TT tell you that?

Interesting analysis for a listener.

Welcome here
Well, my "problem" with Sowle is that I feel sleepy when she's singing everything...e.g. The End...she's so f*king close to commit suicide and I just can't hear the emotions which I would expect in her singing

Thanks for the welcome.
The last line of each verse of "Silence of the Night" is "...lying here in the silence of the night." I figure she is trying to go to sleep. Thanks for the flattery but I don't know Timo. I am a fan of Jennifer and joined this board when I found out she was working with Timo on this project so I could see what his music was about and hear news about the release of Saana. Since then I have listened to some Strato and really like it.

Thanks for the welcome. I guess the sleepiness you feel might be what I interpret as depression or her giving up and having nothing left to live for. Each person has their own interpretation. That's just my version.

No, my "problem" is that I just think she could have done it better, to express more life and more emotions in her voice. It's missing there, IMO. That's it.

Yeah, the free samples were kinda "rough".Hopefully, the songs will be "clean" sounding on the final cut of the CD. I'd hate to plunk down 25 bucks for a CD and find out the music was not cleaned up from the sample offering.

Those samples are 192 kbytes/per sec and are way below CD quality.
MP3's in generally are very compressed, distorted and lack the clarity of CD.
But they are cool in iPods etc with small headphones.

All MP3's over Webtv sound "rough" anyway.

Very primitive hardware!

I'm sorry for posting this question here but I tried TT's official webshop but I received no answer and since I see that TT is reading this forum still I thought there might be some help.
Is there any problem with Saana's cd? I mean is it out of print or something? I ordered it almost a month ago (6th of May) but haven't received anything yet. Tried to contact the eshop but have received no answer for 3-4 days or something.
Anyone knows anything?

I think this album looks for something else than entertaining. Sometimes emotions may lower your energy, and in my opinion this is a very emotional album. I find a lot of atmospheric elements on Paulo Cohelo's writing and still don't find it boring.

I don't really like it. To me, emotional doesn't mean extremely light, slow paced and cheesy. For sure it can be marvellous for some people, but it is not a rock opera kind that I was expecting!
