Luca is happy in Rhapsody of fire, so...
I think a good option could be Jani Liimatainen ex-sonata arctica. (Is my opinion not anymore)

I would say Alex Beyrodt from the band Silent force.

You don't even know what will happen in the future. -.- But anyway, Jani wouldn't be a good idea I think, he is more like a robot. :/

I hope the new guitarist is not wäinölä, because then we have Koti, Porra and Wäinölä from Kotipelto band, and on the top of that Jens has also been doing some gigs with Kotipelto line-up, so the on ly difference between Stratovarius and Kotipelto would be the drummer then

It could be also Juhani Malmberg. He Played guitar in Kotipeltos Coldness album. I´m sorry about my bad english.

I COULD!
Seriously... well... maybe not.
I nominate Roland Grapow (Masterplan, ex-Helloween), who played one solo for Kotipelto's first solo.

I'm with you on that one!

I have a feeling Masterplan isn't doing too well (not that Stratovarius is...) as Jorn Lande and Uli Kusch already left the band some time ago, so maybe there's a chance?

Wäinölä looks to be the most obvious alternative. But you have a point: If he will join the club, then what will be the purpose of Kotipelto´s own --- band?

Kotipelto is the main songwriter of Kotipelto, I think Johannson would be the main songwriter of Stratovarius, that's big. Jorg Michael is a big part of what makes Stratovarius, well, Stratovarius. I used to be a fan of his drumming on self titled, I still am to an extent, but Strato's album needs double bass drum more than anything needs anything else right now.
Timo Tolkki wants to "Tribute" Visions and Episode, which is fine, because he wrote almost all of Visions, and a good amount of Episode. But what Stratovarius needs to show RR is that there can only be one, (Jens Johannson). But seriously, if Timo comes out with a genius record, then it's likely a lot of Stratovarius fans will shift over to RR, the band needs to come out swinging with a keyboard shredding, double bass pedal thumping, epic, album that shows people that the old music wasn't all because of Timo.

Actually I think they are. They had to do the 2007 MK II album in a hurry, and it still contained Uli's songs and songs made for Uli and Jörn still in the line-up. Instead, Terrana and DiMeo succeeded in recording those with honor, and now Roland & co. still has about a year time to finish their 2009 work.
No-one can replace Tolkki by the way. It's just not the same anymore. Neither RR nor Stratovarius is interesting anymore.
<EDIT> Henjo Richter. The guy isn't comfortable in Gamma Ray and wants to play in Helloween. So, in Stratovarius instead? :E

I don't know how easy it is for the guys to make an "epic" record without TT... I mean Koti has made only one epic song, I think, Last Defender, which to me sounds like Koti has tried to force himself to write an epic song. I'm not saying Koti or Jens have not wrote good songs, because they have wrote many of those, but epic pieces like for example Destiny, Visions etc...

Last Defender is mainly written by Tuomas Wäinölä.

And it's not up to much.

There are all kinds of guitarists that could potentially take the slot-
Andy LaRoche of King Diamond is one wicked guitarist, IMHO- even if he's more into the goth/black metal type of thing.
Ronni Le Tekro of TNT is certainly no slouch, either. Very impressive soloist, and a good songwriter as well.
For that matter, Michael Schenker is insanely great, but he's got too many personal problems, and would probably want way too much money.
Uli Roth is phenomenal, but I don't think that he'd get rid of his pimp hat.
There are a number of great guitarists out there- both known, as well as unknown, that could easily step in. It will be interesting to see who gets the slot. I don't think that TK's guitarist would be the right fit, though. He's really good for TK's solo work, but with a lineup like the remaining members of Stratovarius, they'll certainly need someone that can actually keep up with them.
StragOvariuS wrote:Fatgwie Malmsteen would be good, but too much ego only in one band!!! HAHAHAH
That lineup would rock for sure- but I'll bet $20 right now that they would probably end up strangling him
sooner rather than later.

Yeah, well, honestly, I don't really know what Masterplan is up to these days. Never been a big fan of them.

Huh?
I heard that Helloween asked him to join them after they fired Grapow, but he wanted to stay with Gamma Ray instead.

Nobody can replace TT - he was the main figure of Stratovarius. Mike Romeo would be a good choice, but he owns a band called Smyphony X, do you remember from the Elements Tour?

Romeo doesn't like simple power he is more progressive.

Tough question.
Yngwie Malmsteen for an even more spectacular band meltdown hahahahaha

I guess a good candidate could be Ex- Sonata Arctica Jani Liimatainen

by Verdades Parias
Jani Liimatainen - ex Sonata Arctica
Antti Wirman - Warmen
Alexander Kuoppala - ex Children of Bodom
Thomas Chr Hansen - Gaia Epicus
Marco Sfogli
Tommy Johansson - Reinxeed!!!! THIS ONE IS PERFECTLY FIT IN STRATOVARIUS!
