Stratovarius Community

Rumors have it the new band (without Timo Tolkki) is very likely going to be called Strato. Not Stratovarius anymore, just Strato.

I think STRATO is a good, acceptable compromise.

Hmmm... I don't see why they should make such a "compromise". If they want to continue as Stratovarius (which I wouldn't like, but of course that's not the matter here ^^), they should call themselves Stratovarius, or something completely else (which I would prefer ). IMO.

I think it's really dumb! They should continue as Stratovarius and not as Strato, I mean that half of the name was ripped from a freakin' guitar!

It wouldn't look good on the album cover me thinks as well-

I also think they should call themselves STRATOVARIUS, but if Tolkki is going to throw fits&gripe and bitch about it all over the Internet, why not compromise?

My son also says "STRATO" sounds weird Like its "incomplete" or lacking something. Thats just his opinion, though. He said a good band name would be "STRATOFORTRESS".

To me, that sounds kinda "medieval" or something. Like they are guardians of Power Metal!

I think it should be stratovarius, I mean don't get me wrong Timo Tolkki was a major part of the band but stratovarius is five people not one guy.
By buying into pressure they would be saying that they were merely Timo T's puppets.
In this case I say it's all or nothing

Oh no, please not "Strato"...that's a nickname, not a band monicker... It doesn't mean nothing, and people/magazines will call them "half Stratovarius".
I think they should use "Stratovarius" name, or a variation like this:

I think that mr Tolkki has smudged the name Stratovarius with all his talk about blow-girls and other personal things and that "the others" will suffer from that-they do even now. And then we have all the lawyers that are only waiting for something to do..."Strato" can be half of the band that is left and we all know that it stands for VERY good musicians and, whatever mr Tolkki says, good frienship

Stratovarius was NEVER just Tolkki. TKs vocals put Stratovarius on the map, and JMs double-bass&JJs expert keyboarding skills are Stratovarius's trademarks! Stratovarius would have NEVER got to where they are today popularity-wise without TK, JM, and JJ. Imagine TT a solo act. How far would have THAT got?
So everytime TT puts a bite of prime steak into his mouth, or tries on a fancy suit or designer colongne, or whatever well-off musicians do, I hope he silently gives alittle thanks to TK, JJ, and JM. At least figuratively speaking.

Another +5 reply here. The remaining guys need to be alittle bold here&keep the Stratovarius name. If they don't, they will be in TTs shadow from here on out-- Always subconciously wondering if they are pleasing the "big guy" or not.
TT does not need to worry. People will always give him credit for being the helm of Stratovarius for all those years. He will always have that wonderful history as his. But, he has another band now, so he needs to worry about that one.

I just think its stratovarius when it has the core members in it. They all contributed to it and now that they don’t have the person that put the most work into it a different name seems reasonable. I’d much rather they kept the name stratovarius than butcher it to just half the name it use to be. that post was about tolkki being a crybaby bitch just for expressing his personal value system and thinking it's stratovarius when they(or origional members) are all a part of it.

This all reminds me of Harry Bates short-story, "Farewell to the Master", and in the end, the real Master(s) are revealed.

we shall see if they can create an album that would beat a best of stratovarius in critical and fan acclaim. best of luck to them

OK, no more criticizing RR&all that crap. From now on, it's just going to be promoting the New Stratovarius, and creating a great atmosphere for them. :headbang:
However, any snide or innuendo remarks against New Stratovarius will be met, "eye for an eye"/"tit for tat".
