Revolution Renaissance demo w/ Kotipelto

I'm new to the community and this is my first post. Like many of you, I was anxiously awaiting the new "R........., R.........." album and was disappointed to hear that Stratovarius had disbanded and the album was re-recorded with different people. This was even more disappointing to me because as a new fan in the States, I never had the opportunity to see them live.
I ordered the Revolution Renaissance album when it was released a couple of months ago and while I think it's a good album, I honestly think it could have been more as a Strato album. I have seen the video footage of the band playing "Last Night On Earth" at Wacken and I thought it sounded great.
I have heard that the demos of the Revolution Renaissance album featuring Kotipelto were leaked and I would love to have a copy of this. I thought I would ask around over here to find out where the best place would be to obtain a copy.
Suggestions?

You can find it in a lot of places on inet...
Yes, this album could have been better with Stratovarius, that's for sure.
It's a good album, but lacks Stratovarius.

Nope, with Stratovarius it would have been propably something like Stratovarius, maybe with some doublebass.
(no I don't think that Stratovarius would have been alot better with doublebass, I know alot of good metal albums without db, though I don't remember any.

)
Well but I ofcourse wish they were happy together, that'd mean that they made it a better record, and that would also mean that Stratovarius would have been better album.

I mean with the same energy as long time ago.
Of course, with the energy they showed last months and the impossibility to stay happy together, no.
That album, improving the songs, more keyboards, long solos and all the classical stratovarius stuff, and all the energy they lost I don't know where, I think would be a very very good album.
The problem is that we have the crappy demos and the final album which clearly lacks a lot of things. But, have in mind the circumstances...
Anyway, I think the best job in the album comes from Rantanen. He shows more power and emotions than Sammet or Kiske in this album.
As I told in RR forum, I was expoecting something better from Tolkki, but once again, it's a strange album and I don't know how to get it. You know, an Stratovarius unfinished album turned into a multisingers album. Really strange. And more strange when I think about the bad feelings they all had together while recording.

I've listened to both, and I still like the demos better...
I love Kiske with all my heart and soul, but I think Kotipelto does a better job on this one.
I wish the last album was nearly as good as this demos.

I enjoyed the demos a lot more than the actual album. The music may still sound boring and uninspired, but at least TK had emotion going on, which is something that Kiske definitely was not doing. Kiske sounded bored, and careless. Kotipelto sounded energetic, and emotional.
I'd rather hear Kotipelto say "If I fornicate in moonlight, there's no reason to get mad" than Kiske saying "The beast is hungry it wants more."
Kiske ruined the album for me. And Rantanen's songs were AWFUL. He would have been great if it weren't for those songs.

well thats apples and oaranges to give two guys different lyrics with different sounds and lenths and everything and then say one can't express as much as the other. what tk got to sing blends the lyrics syllable for syllable with the music and that in itself makes a huge difference. you seem so quick to throw out words like "horrible" and "uninspired" that its really hard to get a feeling for your judgement system. to me bored singer would sing everything flat and not do any vibrato or expression or pitch bend and sing everything monotone jumping from note to note.

Exactly, they are practically different songs. Kiske did a good job. Like I said before, he could sing the Macarena and make it sound good. But IMO, the songs aren't really that great.

IMO I really didn't enjoy the album at all.. There were only two songs that i actually like which are Angel and obviously Last Night on Earth the other 8 didn't got my attention at all.. Obviously everything would have changed if Stratovarius recorded the album i'm sure the keys and drums would have been way too much better and voice too.

Well I finally tracked down the Stratovarius demos of the album, and after spending the last week listening to both versions, I am even more convinced that the album would have been better if Tolkki had finished the album with TK, Jens, Jorg and Lauri. Like someone else mentioned, I think the demos have more energy to them.
Kiske is an amazing vocalist, but he doesn't sound very convincing on the album. Maybe I need to familiarize myself with some of his solo albums, but listening to the New Era album next to Keeper Of The Seven Keys 1 & 2...it hardly sounds like the same guy. I know he has spent the better part of the last 20 years trying to distance himself from metal music, but it just doesn't sound like he was giving it his all on New Era.
Having said that, he doesn't sound bad by any means . I think he sounds quite good on "I Did It My Way," and Tobias Sammet's songs sound quite good. I think part of the problem is that the album sounds a bit disjointed with multiple singers. Tolkki should have picked one to do the whole album.
I did notice quite a few lyrical changes between the demo and the finished album as well. I wonder if they were Tolkki's revisions or if TK had some input on the original lyrics which Tolkki then changed after disbanding Stratovarius. I think some of the changes were for the better (the chorus on "I Did It My Way" sounds better on the finished album), while others should have been left the way they were ("Last Night On Earth").
As for the songs themselves, I quite like them. I'm not huge on "Eden Is Burning" and "Born Upon The Cross" was much better when it was called "Falling Into Fantasy," but the other 8 sound good to me. I think it's a solid album. Maybe not on par with Visions, which I seem to recall was the sound that Tolkki was trying to achieve with this album, but it could have been a very good Stratovarius album.
