STRATOVARIUS LIVE DVD (MILANO AND SAO PAULO)

Post by crostrato » Sun Mar 15, 2009 8:29 pm

Hey, Jens, since you are the only one active from the band here. One question, what happened whit that material, from that gigs, where is that, I was so exaited about that dvd, and waitnig it for long long time, because I m a huge fan of Elements album, and since the band and every thing was on top on that toure, for me, so where is that material, why dont you pay some half-profesionall to make the bootleg dvd, nothing too much expensive but again nothing too cheap?

I'm really sorry to nit pick that however if they were to finance that it would be considered an official release not a bootleg.

Bootlegs are created by people who are in no way associated with the band.

I was hoping it would be released, too because it seems there is some great material.

we'll just have to hope that they do release it, if not let's hope they release one of the tour this year and that some elements songs are on it.

I agree with you. As far as quality I set the bar pretty high. It will be in the future some time because it will be a bit of work (and expense) getting the stuff ready. Any legal hurdles from Universal's side were cleared a few months ago.

We are planning to some day release DVDs from both the concerts you mention, and other concerts too from those days. These are the possibilities:

* Milan, Italy - 12 April 2003

* Tuska Open Air 2003, Helsinki, Finland - 11 July 2003

* Wacken Open Air, Wacken, Germany - 2 August 2003

* Raumanmeeren Juhannus (RMJ), Rauma, Finland - 24 June 2004

* São Paulo, Brazil - 27 August 2005

* Wacken Open Air, Wacken, Germany - 4 August 2007

We cleared the rights with Universal to make two full length DVDs. As far as production and where the tapes (or files) are it's .......... complicated. :) For SP I have everything, still needs mixing and cutting. Milano Karmila already mixed, those mixes are amazing actually -- 5.1 surround. Problem is that we only have a very rough cut in MPEG format plus the raw footage tapes (which were transfered from film I believe). The other concerts it gets even more foggy where the stuff is. For one of the Wacken shows for instance (forget which one it was) I saw TK has some tapes lying around . somewhere, and Jörg has audio files on a DVD set .. some other somewhere.

Tapes need to be tracked down and converted into files first, that's probably the biggest pain. And in Milano I don't know how easy it is to lock the pictures to the mixes since (maybe) they were mechanical film cameras, or at least they used these betacams which maybe free-ran and drifted out of synch with each other. Also, Milan is 4:3 where SP is 16:9. On some songs we played some mistakes. Etc etc etc ad infinitum ad nauseam.

Let's see! Lots of other stuff going on the last few months apart from putting these together.. and this year there will be as well.

I think that these 2 options should be considered:
Especially the second one.

* Milan, Italy - 12 April 2003

* São Paulo, Brazil - 27 August 2005

I've read and heard lots of positive reactions about that show in Brazil. So I'm really curious.:wink:

I agree. But if we have the possibility to make 2 DVDs and it's easy to get some of the other ones organized too, why not give people value for their money .. "fill them up" is what I would say.

But like I said, let's see .....

I remember during all the drama that TT said that the band played so horribly that the DVD couldn't be released...obviously there are two opinons about this matter

I read that too. But I think he was talking about the Infinite Tour and that he tried to shoot a DVD in Greece.

How the hell should I know that? I saw a few Band playing live on DVD and TV and no one of them ever used a screen on stage.

They did! I was at that Sao Paulo show :evil:

2 pics I took back then:

1) At the begining of the show, a disclaimer message about the DVD recording, where the public waives their rights of image and voice:

2) Here you can see the stage screens used.

I loved that show! :)

The more you can add the better it is. So if everything gets added, that is the best. :D

I was there! That was actually the first metal concert I've ever been to!

And I couldn't make it to Live And Louder in 2006 when Stratovarius was the headliner, so can you imagine how bad I want to see Stratovarius live again?

Since it was my first metal concert ever, despite having had one outstanding, life altering experience, I think I wasn't able to enjoy as much as I could have now (I was far from the stage and didn't really know how to control and distribute my excitement throughout the concert).

Words can not express how great it'll be to see Stratovarius live again. I mean it. I'll do my very best to give the world's warmest welcome back ever when that day comes!

Great Setlist. I still would like to know the problems that prohibited Tolkki from making the 2000 DVD. I found a pretty good bootleg from the 2000/2001 tour from a Japan gig. Really great sound.
