What you guys think about Toshiro Masuda?
He is a Compositor from Japan and used to create Naruto and Naruto Shippuuden's Soundtracks.

this is the best track for me. but there are so many!!!
Hear at the violins, what a feel!!

What has this to do with Stratovarius and related bands? I think this would fit more in the "Other discussions in English" section.

But the track sounds nice.

Blargh, Naruto thread. Get it away. *hissss* :x

On the topic of the soundtrack, it lost its novelty about the same time the show did. It's fitting for the series, I suppose, but it never really wowed me.

Death Note, on the other hand, wasn't the best anime around (granted I enjoyed it to an extent and wouldn't recommend or disrecommend it), but the soundtrack is the epitome of epic. I daresay I have a difficult time deciding between it and the majority of Stratovarius. (Yes, I know... I'm a sellout for Latin choirs.)

I hate to say it, but as absolute as my respect for Strato is, anime's still much, much more important to me.

In terms of soundtracks alone, though, it could be argued either way. I've very, VERY rarely heard better... but more often than not Stratovarius definitely has the advantage. ;)

I'm a big fan of anime and of metal, I like both about the same.

In fact once I've gotten my band going I'm also planning on doing some anime voice acting on the side.

Anime like metal seems to be one of those things which everyone either loves or hates.

I've always kind of wanted to try my hand at voice acting, but my voice is so monotone it's ridiculous. Take Ben Stein, multiply it by ten and give him a villainous English accent - you've got me. So in the meantime I'm stuck with a voice filter and my own series to work with.

My partner's working for a band who now has an $84 million contract touring with Metallica in Japan at the moment, so odds are I'll be spending a good bit of time doing that. <:3

As for the anime comment, I'm not picky about what I'll watch but I'm extremely picky about what I'll recommend. In the same way I dislike using genres of music, metal as you call it, I'm not fond of summarizing all anime with the single term... but then I suppose I don't have much choice. There are some (always unpopular) series and movies that stand out fantastically, though... completely outside the norm, which is what I enjoy about them. Paranoia Agent is a prime example.

This track is not bad at all, but I prefered by far the soundtrack of the first season, more guitaristic with heavy riffs and japanese influences, a great mixture.

I wonder if anyone here has heard of Susumu Hirasawa? He was the composer for most of Satoshi Kon's recent work (Paranoia Agent and Paprika are two I'm aware of) as well as the soundtrack to Berserk... which I haven't seen.

It's fitting for the series, but depending on what you mean by catchy I have to wonder what exactly you're talking about. Most of the series' music is classical... very slow and moody. Only tracks that really stand out from that frequent are the openings and closings. Vic Mignogna is a fantastic actor/singer, though - he's done a few English reversions of tracks like Bratja and some custom compositions.

I have a difficult time deciding my preference, though. FMA is definitely a distant second to the Death Note soundtrack and Hirasawa's work in Paprika... but if I had to decide between the two of those, I think I'd go with Paprika. Greatest movie of all time. ^^

I've just always enjoyed the music from FMA, I don't know maybe my version of catchy is different however I'm just saying that I've always liked them.

Oh no, I suppose anything can be considered catchy varying on the person. It's just sort of strange to hear it in that context, since when I hear the word I tend to imagine something melodic and sort of upbeat.

For instance, I find the fourth opening very catchy. 2nd closing's my favorite, too. <:3

I love them all however if I had to choose I'd go with the first ending theme and the second beginning.
