Polaris position in Stratovarius discography (rank)
As all we know, Stratovarius discography is:
Fright Night (1989)
Twilight Time (1992)
Dreamspace (1994)
Fourth Dimension (1995)
Episode (1996)
Visions (1997)
Destiny (1998)
Infinite (2000)
Intermission (2001)
Elements, Pt. 1 (2003)
Elements, Pt. 2 (2003)
Stratovarius (2005)
Polaris (2009)
It is the 12th studio album ( anyway I add Intermission cause the album is based on studio songs).
We have 13 different positions to place Polaris... for example: "Ok I think it's the best album, so I choose first position"...or no..."I think is the worst..so I choose position 13..." ... and so on...
So, what's Stratovarius forum opinion about it? what do you think? Where do you place Polaris?

Re: Polaris position in Stratovarius discography (rank)
I'm not sure how to rank albums but if I was rating my favorite song from each album it would be 12. I’d have to really devise a mathematical system to rank these guys by a cumulative score of each song. This album has more song that I like on it than some others so I guess for now I can rank it ahead of those and put it at around 8.
Re: Polaris position in Stratovarius discography (rank)
Yes, for example, you can do that. I mean, like if you had to put the albums in your personal order or, based in your personal rank preferences.icecab21 wrote:I'm not sure how to rank albums but if I was rating my favorite song from each album it would be 12.
I have to think about it but I think I'll choose position 4.

I put 3rd position after Visions and destiny! This album is awesome
Re: Polaris position in Stratovarius discography (rank)
I put it on the 2nd place, after Elements Pt. I. No album will beat Elements Pt. I!!!

I voted #4. Visions and Episode are the untouchables for me and it's about equal to Destiny and Twilight Time.
Excellent, inspiring, energetic and lately a really relaxing feel-good -album for me.

After Fourth Dimension, Destiny, Infinite, Episode, Visions & Intermission, Polaris come for me, is the best album after Infinite!

This will be an interesting poll to take 20 years from now.

I can't add it to the catalog nor compare it with the past albums. I love it but I take it as something new. A very nice new chapter.

It's hard to compare as I like all of the albums, it's another album I'll be loving for a long time.

Re: Polaris position in Stratovarius discography (rank)
i wonder how many people have listened to the last 12 albums to the point where they are as fresh in their minds as the recently released polaris?

Re: Polaris position in Stratovarius discography (rank)
I'd probably rank it on the lower tier of Stratovarius albums, right next to Twilight Time, Elements Part 2 and S/T.

Re: Polaris position in Stratovarius discography (rank)
5th, after Visions, Infinite, Episode, and Fourth Dimension.
The middle rank belongs to Twilight Time and Dreamspace and Destiny.
Then, Elements 1&2, Self-titled, and Fright Night make up the bottom rungs.
^^^Just my opinion, of course!^^^

Re: Polaris position in Stratovarius discography (rank)
Polaris is somewhere in my Top-8, there with Visions, Episode, Destiny, Dreamspace, Twilight Time, Fourth Dimension and Infinite. Strato has made so many great albums so far, so its quite difficult to hit the top-3 for example anymore.

01 Visions
02 Elements Pt I
03 Destiny
04 Episode
05 Infinite
06 Fourth Dimension
Polaris is around 5th-7th. We will see after some months or years have passed. But the first four are just too strong to touch.

True! Everyone is different. But I hear from a lot of people that they think Visions is Strato's best album.
