I just don't like them.
It is just my own opinnion but I usually don't like too direct love stories.
I like how he sings not what he sings.
Into the Blue is fine lyrically but nothing special and Dawn of Solace could have been better.

Lyrics are usually really important to me (Yet there are bands I can only listen to while ignoring the lyrics like Dragonforce or Teräsbetoni)

The lyrics just don't match wit the music and reading the rest of the titles I don't have high hopes (Stolen Waters  what!). Yet good lyrics are always just extra.
Good song has good melodies and good lyrics but if the lyrics are lacking it may still be OK.
a Terrible song is what it is even if it had the best lyrics ever.

The same here. The lyrics are really important to me and I don't like this kind of "direct" love lyrics (at least not in power metal).. It's just my taste, I prefer other kind of music/lyrics. Leaving the lyrics apart, I don't like the samples musically either...

Anyway it's cool to listen some different stuff and listen TK with another side projects.

How different music listeners we are. I think the whole song is more important than words alone. It may be due to the fact that I do not understand all the lyrics perfectly. The terms and metaphors are difficult.

Finnish is my native language.

I have no problem with the lyrics at all and I defenitly love the instrumental work. I'm very much looking forward to that release.

i'm not sure why some people need to call it power metal and then have some requirements for the way they box in the genre. The music has elements from all over the place.

And about Kotis singing and the vocal melodies:
judging from the samples I like it way more than on Polaris. It all has a nice flow and Koti sounds really, well, "relaxed" if you will, compared to Polaris.

When I said powermetal, it was just because Jari made power metal usually and TK sings power metal usually. Not because I expect power metal from Cain's Offering or not. Anyway I suppose a lot of people, maybe, thinks about power metal if Jari and Tk are in the conversation...

For example Ragehead prefers this samples vs Polaris, and there's no problem, it's all about preferences and taste. That's all, and I don't like musically nor lyrically that samples. I think it's easy and I have nothing against this side project from TK.

Yeah well, if English speaking countries had, say, even 500 different names, it would still leave us with more names per capita. :P Btw, can any band beat Symphony X in this field; 3 out of 5 guys are called Michael?

all the musicians with the same name go to the same band.
There are no Janis on other bands but here there are 2.
Excalion has 2 Jarmos but I know no other band that has even one.
Leverage has 2 Pekkas But no Pekkas on other bands.
And so on...

I think it's about that the people would be about the same age in the bands and at certain times has been given to children similar names. You know what I mean? Name and elsewhere has always been one on fashion.

By the way, we are so far away of topic. :)

looks like HIM at one point tied symphony x by having 3 mikkos if Jussi-Mikko gets to count as a mikko as well. They would have 4 members with mik as the first three letters as well

I agree with you. Check out Tero Tolkki's review of Polaris:
http://terotolkki.blogspot.com/2009/07/ ... laris.html

"...A bit surprisingly the negative feedback this time goes to vocalist Timo Kotipelto. Singing itself is very good as always but somehow it seems that he was missing the "pusher" in studio...that being Timo Tolkki. For instance there are few parts in the album where his pronunciation is quite bad and those would have never gone through with Tolkki. And also few stretched words are missing the last letter. Well the ones that usually criticized Timo's pronunciation were Finns and I guess this time isn't exception either :) ..."

And as I've already said in another thread, I agree with Tero about that point.

Timo sings higher here than in Polaris, or it is just me?
