I just want to say, good luck to RR. Although I don't like the lineup (excepting Mike and TT) or the music (excepting the first album with guests) they are all very talented, for sure. I don't want to talk bad about them so if i'm not going to say anything good, I better say nothing.

Jens I hate to say it, but if what you posted is true, I'm giving up on following RR until something of real substance comes out.

Maybe it's because I got wasted as hell and saw Ensiferum and Necrophagist last night, but I feel a pretty bad headache right now. It's like I wake up to check up on my favorite bands and I get a headache...pretty lame imo

Well, since you asked.

It means someone who's not very technical wants it to appear as if the forum and site is down, and did this suddenly without informing the fans why. Presumably this is to play with the feelings of people who are still emotionally invested in the band, ie, to incite the same type of "OH NOES IS THE BAND DEAD"/ "OH TEHY ARE BACK FROM TEH DEAD!' type of vibe that the "Harvester" poster did last year in the old RR forum (before that was taken down for some vague "legal reasons" which was right before the new RR site was up.)

Playing with fans' feelings like this, it is disgusting..... truly disgusting.

As you noticed, whichever idi.. I mean person did this left permissions to read the "/forum" directory. By not noticing that it had an "x" flag (as in "rwx"), and not properly setting "Options -indexes" for the entire site.

If you scroll down, you'll see that whichever dimwi.. I mean, whoever it was who did this simply renamed "index.php" to "indexx.php". Thus,

still works and brings up the (still spam ridden) forum. I guess this is a possible explaination also for the posting of rumors of the band's breakup earlier, and why all the spam (and even child pornography links) was allowed there, and also the strange myspace friends list tomfoolery the other day. Woo hoo! "Oh noes!? WTF!? etc etc". Let's see if "someone" fixes it as soon as they see this post.

I guess me and Sherlock Browneyedgirl sort of guessed and hinted at this already..

Anyway, if you ask me I think RR are doing just fine both strategically and musically. I heard (from someone who should know) that they are all but certain to have a really good tour this fall, opening for a band you all will know well (no, not Stratovarius ). I think it would be a great thing for them if it happens. It's not confirmed yet, but for sure this talk of RR's death is highly exaggerated. Whoever it is who is trying to suggest it...

As always, free gossip, some sort of stability, security that nobody's posts gets randomly deleted on a whim, very little censorship and open discussions here at the Stratoforum, you're all welcome.

Only thing I can say is that Jens You are the best.

And by the way.

Well it looks like the RR site is being redesigned, however there are no links to go to other then their myspace page.

Tolkki just made an announcement saying that he's busy working on the Project Strato album and that it's been very hard finding gigs for RR at this time, so he's said that unfortunatly you may not see them on the road for awhile.

I personally don't know what's going on but this is the official announcement.

Worried??? You must be joking!! :lol For TT or Harvester? What did you think happened? Poor TT bankrupt?? Never! I am sure he alwayys manages to land on someones feet. Maybe there is some risk for the others in RR but TT will survive. And he isn't known to be interested in someone else than himself. It is quite ridiculous.

Well it seems like "someone" reacted to what I wrote now.

I don't know any of it to be factually true, but I certainly do see a pattern. This is the second time with RR I've seen the same thing. (And I myself am a bit ashamed to say that I caused an obscure error page to go up on stratovarius.com back in 2004 based on the same idea of TT's.)

You have to admit its rather plausible. I mean, normally if you have the time to take a site offline and redesign it, you also have time to warn the users. Moreover, you also have time to delete spam, and reply to obviously incorrect information such as "I heard from TT's brother that he's quitting the business" or whatever the hell it was. For instance, deleting all the spam by one user takes a few seconds.

This thread only has a couple of hundred views and I'll guess I'll move it to "flames" now so it's only readable by registered users and doesn't get indexed by google, but anyway -- if I see the same retarded ploy being used now for the third time, and I post something, and I can bait those dudes into not wasting their (and their fans') time and energy with that kind of games then I am happy.

I admit it sounds rather difficult to get involved and stay "following" a band as a fan when they sort of yank the carpet (on purpose) multiple times. I saw some people putting quite a lot of emotional energy into posting thoughtful things and making that new RR forum a decent place. But maybe they'll just delete all of it. (.. also, like the old RR forum and that ancient tolkki.com forum which also was deleted, twice as a matter of fact if I remember)

( Note that the previous paragraph is again just a friendly attempt to bait them not to make the mistake of deleting the old forum, but to instead just delete the spam they let in and leave it up )
