why in the live concerts you don't play with two keyboards to make the "chorus"???

I think that this will full the songs, don't?

:?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

Oh and in the same kind of question, I enjoy Stratofede's one to ask an other I've already ask to Coen Janssen (Epica), but he didnt anwer, but did you ever consider the possibility of using a keytar alongside your traditional keyboard to be able to move a little bit on stage and get closer to the public?

Why should he play with 2 keyboards? There is no reason. Listen to the Live Album, watch the clips from the DVD and on Youtube. It sounds good just with one keyboard. There is no point in adding a 2nd keyboard. I never heard someone complain about 1 keyboard anyway.

And Keytars are gay. Seriously, the singer of Alestorm is using one and it just looks fucking stupid.

Because Jens has no need to cover his flaws with secondary keys, he is just that good. :) Of course there are flaws, many, as he plays live, but, that's kinda part of the show. :D He ain't playing easy music after all.

I have to mention, though, that I just saw Deep Purple live. MAN can Don Airey play or what?! :O

Back to the topic. I couldn't imagine any background keys, nor especially a keytar if that what it's called. It just wouldn't be the same if Jens had equipment other than a scruffy-looking keyboard. :P By the way, every time when Kotipelto introduces Jens before the beginning of the song Black Diamond, should there be an impromptu solo or something? I have never seen that part quite working. Well, maybe in Lappeenranta next weekend, then?

Jens doesn't need a keytar to move: look at Far Beyond The Sun from Yngwie Malmsteen's video Trial By Fire - Live In Leningrad :D

there really is no need for more then 1 keyboard if you know how to program your synth right, which jens by now would probably be considered an authority of for his gear(been using the same gear for how long now :O?) With one keyboard you can create multiply layers of sounds(16 to be exact!) or split the keyboard into different zones each having there own sound/sounds assigned to them.

The reason why he cant play a lot of parts is because stratovairus do a lot of overdubs on there records, mostly the guitar but keyboards too. Like the intro of Learning to Fly has Strings playing, Jens's Lead and a pipe organ playing all at the same time. Jens is a pretty awesome keyboardist but playing all three of those is not possible without some sort of compromise.

Just that the making of the upcoming(?) DVD wouldn't be too easy (which is must be as they have to track down the videos, audios, work on them, make them synch etc. :D), Jens just has go to the studio and record some harmony support to his keys parts. ^^

Keytars are, perhaps, the worst creation in the history of mankind. Anyone who uses one regularly should burn.

Why do you hate keytars so much?

At least they look bad... unmanly. IMO. :)

This
I really wish the Alestorm guy would use a normal keyboard.

For me a keytar allows for a better stage performance. Lots of bands use a combination of regular keyboards and keytars. It does not affect the sound either way

I have never liked Sonata Arctica, so I don't have a problem with saying that the keytarist looks stupid.

It is... abnormal! >: ( :D I can't explain really. Maybe keyboards just have to resemble piano in some way? At least in my mind. For real I of course have nothing against them if some band plays good music even using it...

Does Jens look good playing, btw?

Thank you, for your post just negated mine and made you sound like the pretentious douche hat rather than me and my purposefully exaggerated post. Congratulations.

Oh, and about Jens, I've just read the rules, and all I can say is that I freaking love him!

When on other forums, you got something like 10 pages of rules, Jens finished that in three lines, just like if he was really bored and that was an nescesary evil.

Jens, we love you!

This thing is awesome! For those curious it is called a Solo Axe not a keytar(the maker of it HATES the word keytar with a passion.) Its called a Zen Riffer and oh boy is it expensive.
