Strato's Forever and Kirka's In My Dreams

Post by Jude » Wed Sep 09, 2009 5:43 pm

I don't know how many of you have heard of finnish heavy rock/pop singer Kirka, but i just went through couple of his songs and i found one quite interesting song. It's called In My Dreams and it's from the 1986 release called R.O.C.K.

Listen the song from here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWbocH4-xUI

I really think that this is quite similar to Strato's Forever. Both have same kind of lyrics and feeling. And the question is: Did TT get his inspiration to Forever from this song?

Yep, i knew that Take Me High song earlier, but i think In My Dreams has also same things that Forever has. A Coincidence or not? Anyway both songs are amazing.

I think the take me higher refrain sounds more like Forever than the song you've postet. Although there is a resemblance.

I saw one of those "who they ripped off" -videos a while ago, that compared Helloween's If I Knew to the exactly same Kirka-song.

ROFL!
I just realized that she is Mariska Veres! She is definitely Hungarian originally. Let's google it up!

Ok found her!
Wikipedia Info

Veres was born in The Hague. Her father was the Romani (Gypsy) Hungarian violinist Lajos Veres; her mother was born in Germany of French and Russian parents. Her elder sister Ilonka accompanied her father on the piano.[1] Her youngest sister, Irene, never had a career in music.

S a tested is a porba hullék,
Akkor is van még remény,
Mert a lelked továbbra is él."

I just have to mention this even though at least some finns might know this already, but just a few months before Kirka passed away he mentioned in some interview that he'd like to do a heavy metal album some day. And there was some talk about Tolkki composing the songs :p It would have been interesting to hear...

Anyway, Kirka's Hengaillaan still kicks some major arse!

the melodies seem easy to write without knowing of the other material.
