Damn! Awesome stuff! The setlist is completely KILLER! I would've done most anything to see that show. I wonder how Gus sounds singing Key to the Universe, Anthem of the World, and Seasons of Faith's Perfection...

thanks for the setlist and the videos!

My god what Stratovarius song choices... Originality! Greatness! Tolkki! 8)

Seriously, those four could really well be the songs so different from each other, from so different eras, that if someone had to pic four not so well known songs and ask them to represent Stratovarius... well, those could be those four exactly... damn. Marvelous! <3

Also, Tolkki seemed relaxed on the guitar - that's so great! And he has lost some weight for real! And as little I heard from Gus from these clips, he actually sounded very good. I've always thought of him a bit limited and not a bit personal singer. More of this, RR, please! :)

A great setlist in every way.
TT seems t like AoA as a song a lot but I think it could be switched for some other song.
Yet still it is a great setlist.

I'm willing to bet that's why he recorded the song.

The only thing I'm concerned about, or in fact just wonder, is why didn't Tolkki even sing backgrounds? He had a mic, sure, he just didn't use it. And he's supposed to sing Return to Dreamspace anyway.

I didn't like the performance, Gus didn't enter at time (key to the universe) and i think they (voice and drums) need way too much talent IMO. All i can say is, good setlist, amazing songs and awesome guitarrist. But I'll look forward to "project strato". I just can't stand this band :(

Cheers!

Could somebody please explain to me how Tolkki is getting away with playing Stratovarius songs live if he has signed over all the rights to the remaining guys? I don't get it. Why not just play a whole set of RR songs?

... or are they not good enough to play live, Tolkki?

Well anyone is allowed to play covers.
And Tolkki has said he wrote those songs so they are his songs so he will perform them live no matter what group he is currently playing in.

They can play Strato songs, but why is that good for anyone? The voice of Gus is very different from Timo's, making the songs not even near to enjoyable for me.

any band can play any song
not sure what people are getting at talent wise, everyone nailed their parts.

Neither me (nor any of the other guys mentioned in the waiver) mind that he does.

Regarding the set list, can't say. If we did that (same as only playing one song from Polaris) I'm sure someone would think that to be a little weird. I think the answer is that this is not a "proper RR show", it's more like a little get together with 3/5 of RR and two additional local Brazilian musicians.

No matter what and even if he hates my guts, I think it's good to see the dude back on stage!

Well Musicians have always been allowed to play covers live, It's just the royalties that he signed over. It's kind of like he's playing covers with the added benefit that he DID write those songs

First to point out: Great videos, pretty good performance!
Second: Setlist was kind of weird (I mean, from 11 songs, 6 were from RR (and two of those were from their latest album... isn't supposed that a gig promoting your last album should include at least 4 or 5 songs of AOA in this case, like Strato did (of course, I'm not trying to compare RR with Strato)), 4 from Strato and one from him)
Third: I has nothing wrong that bands cover songs from other artists (if we talk about covering, many great bands do so) and in this case, even though Tolkki signed over the rights of his songs to Strato, it's always nice to listen to some good old stuffs :D

This is IMO, don't get me wrong :)

it was more of a get together thing along the lines of what tolkki is doing for the rest of his tour. this was not a offical gig or promoted as such. they only had three members, its more of a jam when a band only has three members out of 5.
