-Stratovarius
-Sonata Arctica
-Kamelot
-Nightwish
I tried out Rhapsody, it was just a little tooooo cheesey for me, do you guys have any bands I should check out?
Thanks

let's try this way: it's like with food or drinks, let's assume that you like beer. Do you always drink the same kind of beer or sometimes the different one? Do you always eat the same soup for dinner? Wouldn't it be boring? All beers are copy of carbonated hop drink, all soups are copy of water boiled with some vegetables, meat etc.
So where does the power come from to see the race to its end?

Thats the point

I couldnt stand listening to the same music all the time, and to be honest, many of those nowadays melodic metal bands sound quite the same... *cough* Thunderstone

I think we reached an agreement, but still difference is in the range of terminology. In your quoted words I would replace word music into band, and it wolud be ok

Of course, those bands sound similar in general, but differences are in style, details, etc.
To go further according with your opinion we can say that almost all music in the world that was ever written is similar, because it consits of twelve tones.

Heavenly is a fucking fantastic band. I can't believe no one's mentioned them yet.
I agree with TS. A week ago i made a conscious decision that i would spend a month listening to nothing but metal, just to see if it would have an effect on me. Not even JUST melodic metal, but any kind of metal. For me, that's an arsenal of over 100 different artists.....30 days, 100 artists; you think it would round out pretty easily. But i didn't even last a week. Even if you're a slave to metal, you can't live on ONLY metal.

It's like visiting Prague, Paris, London and Moscow in one day. It's pointless - too many to visit in such short period, so you don't see anything and it won't be impressive.
Albums you heard were relasing through years. What's the point to listen to them in one month? You even don't appreciate it or delight them. I think this is typical for young person who claim they are metal fans - this week all CDs of Blind Guardian, next one Stratovarius discography, next one Helloween, Gamma Ray, etc. After two years they won't find in this music anything interesting. And then only faded T-shirts left, because all mp3 files were deleted

uh.....i think my information was misconveyed. i didn't mean listen to ALL my metal in a month, i just meant listen to only metal and nothing else for a month. For me that could be 16 straight days of sonata arctica and 14 of Savatage.

Another recommendation - danish band Manticora. Their album Hyperion is the best power metal album ever created ...
