Dreadfull... Rest in peace Dimebag Darrel.
I haven't killed him yet sir,
But when I do, I shall have the stomach and the liver too,
And the floppily doppilies in their horrid glue.

I've been trying to keep up to date on the news since last night... it's so horrible.
Metal has lost one of it's dearest brothers. Whether you liked his music or not, he was a legend without any doubt.

Re: Dimebag Darrel Killed
Unless the a**hole left a note or something, it's doubtful we'll ever know. A few days before there was an interview with Phil Anselmo on Blabbermouth about how he never wanted to talk about Pantera again and he said DBD "deserved a real beating" or something like that. It's possible this person blamed DBD for Pantera breaking up, so he decided to kill him. That's just my take on it though... nothing is confirmed.Beast_Pete wrote:But why?

Re: Dimebag Darrel Killed
Here's a paragraph I should read you guys, from the Columbus Dispatch, my local newspaper.
In other words, the next person to flame the security in my city, state, or country gets flamed.Alrosa manager Rick Cautella said the gunman looked like he had a vandetta against the band members.
"I heard the shots go off one after another. The crowd went out like hell The guy kept shooting," Cautella said. "This guy knew he was gonna die. He didn't leave."
One of Cautella's security guards who was working the back door was shot trying to get the gun away from him, Cautella said.
"It took like three seconds. I could have had ten police officers working there and it wouldn't have made a difference."

I'm getting sick of people flaming the security. Most reports I've come across say that he came from behind the stage, so it's likely he got in through the backdoor when bands were loading equipment or something. Security is pretty tight at most venues, but you CAN get past it if you wait for an opportune moment. Anybody could do this in any country... at any venue.

I don't understand why people think they own bands. This is a terrible tragedy! These types need to freakin learn that bands consist of PEOPLE, people with needs and wants and aspirations, they don't exist so you can assume control of their lives. I cannot believe this happened! I'm as shocked as the rest of you. One of my toughest friends cried today and that seemed almost impossible. I'm sorry Pantera broke up, but they put out a bunch of successful records had a great run, and everything was fine, they were all doing what they wanted. Right now I'm just sick to my stomach thinking about people who can actually murder a man because he chooses a different way than the other deems acceptable.
Dimebag, Rest in peace metal brother!!!

I am not a Pantera fan at all, but man, this is some shit news. Nobody should die like that. Violence sux. Guns suck. USA sux. Only in USA could something like this happen. What a motherfucking shame this is.

I wouldn't go so far as to jump to the conclusion that the USA is the only place this could have happened. TT could have been knifed to death in Spain. There are bitter fans everywhere in the world who would go to such lengths when pushed to their psychological limits. There is no reason to blame this on guns or the club's security. All blame rests on the shoulders of that sad soul who took Darrell away from us.Allison wrote:I am not a Pantera fan at all, but man, this is some shit news. Nobody should die like that. It´s amazing that someone can get into a venue with a gun!

Re: Dimebag Darrel Killed
I'm definitely no fan of guns myself, but I do believe there is no reason to blame the availability of guns here on this tragedy. This person was apparently very sick and would have done anything to get to Darrell. If he wasn't able to find a gun, I'm sure he would have run up and stabbed Darrell to death (VARG!!!gon wrote:It´s amazing that someone can get into a venue with a gun!

Even if there were stricter gun laws, I find it doubtful that would make any difference in the murder (by gun) rate. The majority of murders using guns are due to street warfare, a by-product of the US's "war on drugs." Things like this shooting are quite rare, but the media makes it seem like an epidemic.

Definitely, we have different points of view about this. In 20 years , I´ve never heard, know, read something similar in a rock show, and I attended hundreds of them.... but is part of your culture, we are on the other side of the sea, so it´s difficult for us to understand some attitudes. Anyway, I am lucky as I saw Darrell on stage many years ago in Madrid, with Megadeth and Iron Maiden. Rest In Peace Darrell Abbot.

I meant the guns - only in USA can everyone and their dog own a gun - and it often causes these sort of problems. I'm not jumping to conclusions, I'm stating cold fact. Guns and the people who own them are the biggest problem in USA. And now this man is the latest victim of unbridled violence that the government encourages. So the government should ban guns, because of the <1% of gun owners use their guns for inappropriate reasons? We should ban every weapon in that case... including baseball bats.Allison wrote:I meant the guns - only in USA can everyone and their dog own a gun - and it often causes these sort of problems. I can see where you're coming from... but the fact of the matter is that whether guns are legal or not, crimes with guns will happen. If somebody wants a gun, they'll find a way to get it.
The real problem with the US is its culture. The 'prosperity' and 'freedoms' we have here tend to feed a very high rate of criminal activity. I'm being sarcastic of course. Poverty rates are extremely high, and the division between the middle class and working/lower class is growing by the year. Divorce rates are at a point where about only 1/3 marriages stay together, which of course leaves the children to develop in a bad environment (often times in poverty). I'm sure I could keep going on about the sickness that pollutes our 'perfect' country, but there's really no point... I'm just rambling...

Re: Dimebag Darrel Killed
No I have not, but that shouldn't be an issue. I know that other countries do not have nearly the same violent crime problems. All I'm trying to say is that the legalized guns is not what makes things like this happen.Allison wrote:you've never lived outside of USA, have you?
