It's the "whore of babylon" which is talked about in Revelations. "The woman which thou sawest is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth. ... Here is the mind which hath wisdom: The seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman sitteth" (Revelation 17:18,9).

1) Revelation 17:9, the whore "is a city built on seven hills." Rome was built on seven hills.

2) The name of the city is "Babylon the Great." (Revelation 17:5). From 1 Peter 5:13: "The church here in Babylon ... sends you her greeting". Peter was writing from Rome! Rome has always been known as Babylon.

3) The woman is called a "whore" (Revelation 17:1), with whom earthly kings "have committed fornication" (Revelation 17:2). This clearly fits with Rome again.

4) The Whore is clothed in "purple and scarlet" (verse 4), just like Catholic clergy.

5) the Whore is wealthy. She is "decked with gold and precious stones and pearls" (Revelations 17:4)."

6) She has a golden chalice. Revelation 17:4: she has "a golden chalice in her hand, full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication." This is obviously the eucharistic chalice used to drink Jesus' "blood".

7) She is the "mother of harlots and abominations of the earth" (verse 5). Obvious reference to the homosexual pedophile clergy.

8 ) The WHORE sheds the Blood of Saints. She is drunk with "the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus..." (Revelation 17:6). This is obviously the inquisition and the holocaust, both which were perpetrated by the Catholic church.

9) the whore "is that great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth" ( verse 18 ). Catholic church brought down the downfall of communism and i'm sure Bush will go to the pope's funeral. No debate there!

There will be only two more popes and then comes the apocalypse.

You know, the apocalypse isn't the end of the world. It's just the end of the world for the Rome Catholic Church. For the time of the Apocalypse means 'End of Days'. this is the time people will start to think for themselfs, and no longer need the Church to think for them. peter saw this coming 2,000 years ago, and I think this is not yet the time of the downfall of the Church, although we are drawing near...

According to my Concordia Self-Study Bible, the footnote for 17:9 describes the seven hills that "It is perhaps significant that Rome began as a network of seven hill settlements on the left bank of Tiber." So, check one point for Reroute.

Seems plausable. If you've ever read The Scarlet Letter, a woman is branded a scarlet A on her dress for adultery, and scarlet and purple is usually shown to represent adultery.

The only tiny problem I have with this is that Israel also had this problem too. The book of Amos points this out, by saying that they would take from the poor, and would boast about their riches.

You trample on the poor and force him to give you grain. Therefore, though you have built stone mansions, you will not live in them; though you have planted lush vineyards, you will not drink their wine.

The "Great City" is known as Babylon, which would probably be modern day Rome. So, it seems like the Catholic Church will probably fall soon.

Hmm...interesting, because I read an article a few months ago saying that some people were researching Issac Newton's works, and found out that Newton predicted that the end of time would be around the year 2061 or something.

The various Gospels you are probably thinking of (Judas, Timothy, etc.) are based on Gnostic teachings. Basically, these random people write these "Gospels" and throw a bunch of crap in there, like Jesus was married to a prostitute. And they say that the authorship came from one of the apostles.

Catholic church coming down.. I wouldn't be too against that even though I'm Christian. They've told so many lies in history I don't even know where to start. What goes around comes around. Maybe this will encourage more free thinking and emphasise more on coming to your own conclusions rather than being spoonfed everything when it comes to Christianity. I wouldn't complain too much.

the 'fact' Jesus was marriedto a prostitute is probably the biggest lie ever made by the Church of Rome. Maria Magdalena was a far child of king Salomo, Jesus the child of king David. this says that the child these two would have, will be the only one who has the right for the throne of Sion/Israel/Jewish state. The Church was so afraid of this fact, and for to lose power, they said Maria Magdalena was a low prostitute, and that there never was a child.
