He's 18, and has several girlfriends--so, I know he is definitely not an innocent litle boy anymore!
But, thats normal.

I wouldn't say he grew out of them. As a game veteran, I can tell you that games are not "kiddie" or whatever and not something you "grow out of." It just seems like his attention has been focused elsewhere.

I´ve been playing quite intense some years ago, but stopped 3 years before or something like that... and, beside music, one reason is, that newer games mainly suck, imo of course..Lucid Faia wrote:I wouldn't say he grew out of them. Agreed. You can't beat classic games. NES and SNES all the way.

Re: Your Addictions!Name Your Poison!!!
I never had a console, but i played Sonic on a friends Sega all night long when i was there
But the older pc games from.. 1993 to 1996-97 were much better than nowadays i think. There are so many classics, Prince Of Persia, Civilization, Marathon (atleast on Macs), Monkey Island I & II, Warcraft I & II and they still rock, played some of ém some weeks ago..
newer games totally lack creativity i think. The only difference is mainly the graphical level...

Yep, those were his favs!;)Lucid Faia wrote:Agreed. You can't beat classic games. NES and SNES all the way.

I must confess that I enjoyed those games, too&played them with my son quite a bit. I understood his "addiction" even though at times, I disapproved of the huge chunks of time he spent on them.
But, like I said before, at least he wasn't going out& geting into trouble---Gaming is a totally harmless addiction--except it can get pretty damn expensive!

Re: Your Addictions!Name Your Poison!!!
My worst addiction is good food. It's complicated because you can't live without eating, but on the other hand I have a bad habit of overeating. I like to cook and I especially love food including cream, cheese, sour cream and other fattening stuff. I have trouble trying to not to gain too much weight. Unfortunately I'm not addicted to sports.
My second addiction goes with my food addiction; wine, beer and sometimes other booze. I also have a bad habit of drinking too much.
Then there's internet, music, coffee, staying up all night and sleeping all day, not paying my bills on time, not cleaning up, washing dishes, hoovering or dusting so my apartment is a mess and so on... Laziness in general!

Re: Your Addictions!Name Your Poison!!!
One "innocent" addiction I have-although it afected me more in the past--is Crossword Puzzles&Find the Word Puzzles.
I went through this craze several years ago, when I was still married. I still have several blank puzzlebooks I intend to fill out Someday!
I was really addicted, too! I'd be sitting around filling out these things&my Ex would say,"Haven't you got anything better to do?!!"
I'd just reply,"Nope!"
And his friends would say,"Ahhhh, leave her alone--at least shes not out hunting stray D***!" And, he would laugh, and the beat goes on!
I still fill out the USA Today&TVGuide puzzles--I can't give up the addiction completely. Its harmless, afterall!

Re: Your Addictions!Name Your Poison!!!
What is with you, BEG, and exploiting the psyches of those around you???
here's my list of addictions.
1. RITUAL. i have to have cranberry juice every morning, first thing. i have to pray five times a day, at certain times. i have to go to sleep at a certain time, and leave for class at a certain time. i must have coffee when i practice guitar. My room has to look a certain way before i can study. i must have scented oil burning at all times. Various nonsensical things are my modus operandi.
2. METAL. Metal is the only thing i care about. If i did not have metal, i would be dead.
3. ANGER. i feel the most alive when i am full of wrath and hatred. if i did not feel these things, i would be complacent indeed. Anger for those which i feel contempt causes me to make myself strive harder for an even higher standard.
4. TEA. i drink a whole lot of it. All kinds; british black teas, turkish teas, mate, green teas, even stuff i make myself out of whatever i find in my footlocker or outside.
okay, that's about all i can think of right now.

Music is my addiction.
Sex is not, as I don't need any girl to f*** with, I can masturbate...otherwise, why would God gave us the right hand???
Beer is not, as I drink more water than any Orca...
Internet could be an addiction if only I hadn't my bed...
Bed is an addiction...
Goodnight!!!

I would have to choose three : food, music and beer.
Re: Your Addictions!Name Your Poison!!!
I'd say :
1- girlfriend
2- internet
3- music
4- videogames

Expensive ? You obviously don't know anything about Playstation! I think the PSOne opened the market for illegal chipsbrowneyedgirl wrote: Yep, those were his favs!;)

The Nintendo 8 bits console was really good.
The Super Nintendo is known to be the best console ever.
I have never been a fan of 32 bits or 64 bits console. I think that something is wrong with those. They tried to put 3D everywhere, but the hardware couldn't follow.
I'm not a big fan of 128 bits neither, but I have to admit that Playstation 2 is a wonderful console. XBox sucks big time. The box is huge, make a horrible noise and the games are too "Direct 3D" style !
The Gamecube. That's the only standalone console that I have, and I think it's great. really entertaining, typical for both children and adults. And it's cheap and small.
I bought it 2 years and a half ago cause the price dramatically decreased and I have always wanted to have Zelda The Wind Waker. I have quite many games but I hadn't really played, until few months ago, and since I spent all my time playing, until really late in the night. I'm so addicted
This morning, I saw some videos of under-development games for the Playstation 3. It really seems this console is going to be handsome !
