Here in Paris the openers for Maiden (Within Temptation + Dream Theater) were really great. Even better than Maiden themselves maybe. Maiden't performance was a bit weak imo

Agreed!
DragonForce is awesome. I have both CD's, and I liked them both.

It's good to listen DragonForce sometimes because their songs are so, how would I say it, irrational...

Actually, the most surprising during a Shaman gig, is that people can scream for Shaman! Have you heard their new album ? I heard it's not really good. And I can't stand André voice anymore. So annoying...

Dragonforce. They are a good clone of Rhapsody+Gamma Ray+Stratovarius, like just Heavenly. But like Stratofanius said, you can get a headache if you listen their music too much. And they really should think about changing their singer. He sings way too high!!!

their albums are on iTunes, for a really good price.
Some songs are really good, but perhaps it is better to pay 2 euros more, and get some better albums, like Jorn solo album, or the last Brainstorm (they are on iTunes too). Both great !

I've never seen a band supporting Maiden get a good reaction from the crowd. Never. It seems that supporting Maiden is a curse - the fans are so loyal, all they want is Maiden on stage, and don't care about the support act, no matter how good they are.

I really like Dragonforce, although I couldn't listen to them all the time, it's too fast with no let-up. I'm gonna see them live in Edinburgh.

What I have actually found about Dragonforce is that Valley of the Damned is a great album with some more diversity and interesting songs, but Sonic Firestorm is a little repetative and already not so creative/original/interesting. Though I really would like to recommend VoTD - listen to Black Winter Night, Evening Star, Heart of a Dragon, and the best of all: valley of the damned (the song). I think Black Winters Night is downlodable from their site.

3rd album should have some development in it. They really need to diversify, there's only so much you can do with hyper-speed power metal before 1) people get bored of it and 2) all the 16 year olds who think they're the greatest band ever suddenly realise that its GOOD to develop instead of go around in circles.

I dedicate this picture to htcdude. ;)

I met him in Wacken, in the VIP area. I sat down in front of him, he bowed his head, when he saw, that I recognized him, and I bowed back. then we asked someone to take some pictures. After that, we talked for some minutes. He was really direct. I "invited" him to Hungary, to play a gig for us. ;) Hopefully, they will play here in 1 or 2 years. Would be really awesome.

i did not really like them too much, cuz they are like a sonata and rhapsody mix with steroids, pretty boring stuff, just hyper speed, and that is it.

but i do love rhapsody (all hail the cheese :D) hammerfall is ok, sometimes a little boring but fun

and why the fuck do you guys actually bash them for being cheesy, i mean i dont think their mother takes them seriously for crying out loud, its just fun! although rhapsody has some pretty melodic songs which are quiet enjoyable (especially if you like Bach and Vivaldi)

I think they're good _because_ they're cheesy. As for hyper-fast stuff, it doesn't affect me too much considering the other stuff I listen to (try listening to Origin or Cannibal Corpse or even The Bezerker, and you'll understand what REAL fast stuff is) because pretty much everything else sounds tame compared to that. Yes, even DragonForce.

Yeah, he was there as well, but I saw him in the VIP backstage later... and just for some mijnutes, so I missed him. But next time, I will go to him immediately.

Alright but DragonForce is hyper-fast Metal that you are able to headbang to. Don´t know how to headbang to Cannible Corpse, Emperor or stuff like that

Yeah i can't listen to them cos they have no melody, DF do. Beserker are ok, i think their drummer is the world's fastest or something ain't he?

Emperor? No meoldy? You must be deaf. They're one of the most melodic bands I know. They also happen to be insanely heavy. It's a matter of getting accustomed to it. Try listening to some stuff from In The Nightside Eclipse (the album cover in my Avatar) to see what I mean. Like 'Into The Infinity of Thoughts' and 'Cosmic Keys to My Creation and Times'.

Oh and yeah. At death metal gigs, you won't see anyone headbanging. You only see moshing. Black metal tends to be slightly calmer... slightly.

Cannibal Corpse may not be the best example. Nile are far more melodic than CC, while being just as crazy.

Oh another thing, the lyrical content of these bands actually has something to say. No, its not all satan worshipping death rarh rarh etc. Origin cover topics from political corruption to war to cloning and genetic engineering. All while being the most technical (yes more than DF), heavy and insane band around. Nile are similarly heavy, while basing all their lyrics on ancient Egyptian mythology. Rotting Christ also have themes ranging from revenge to philosophy.

Makes a nice change from warriors/glory/etc. doesnt it?
Beserker are ok, i think their drummer is the world's fastest or something ain't he?
Nah, Bezerker dude isn't the fastest, though he's damn fast. I think the fastest drummer in the world is some unknown guy who's in the Guinness book of Records. Doesnt play in a band or anything. George Kollias of Nile also has to rank as one of the fastest (and most educated!) drummers in the world.

wow!!! how come???

Check out their album called "IX Equilibrium" or buy their live dvd...that's what i call technique and melody!!!

And when it comes about fast drummers you have to consider many things. What do you mean by fast? hyper fast double bass? or general speed (i mean, when the man is playing his whole kit like a huracan)?
Then, if you want hyper double bass speed you can add to your list Alex Holzwarth, Hellhammer, the guy at The Crown, etc.
But if you want a blast-storm drummer, then count in: G. Kollias(Nile), Nick Barker(Old man's child), Erik Sayenga (Dying Fetus), Jorg Michael (Stratosomething) and Ulli Kush (Masterplan, Ex-Helloween).

Dude, now THOSE are a bunch of messed up drummers. Oh and George Kollias of Nile has performed what I've decided is the fastest sustained ever double bass drum stuff I've ever heard, on User-Maat-Re off Annihilation of the Wicked. At around 5:01.

NOOOO XI Equilibrium is NOT a good album to start with, as far as Emperor are concerned. In The Nightside Eclipse is WAAAAAAAAAY better.

Hey that's true, that song is a total challenge on double bass!!!
Another song that is a total blast belongs to Dying Fetus, well, actually they are 2 songs, one is "Kill your mother, rape your dog" (i wonder how many people will concern about it) and "Schematics"

And what can i tell you about Emperor, i like all their stuff, specially Anthems..., IX equilibrium and ITNE !!!
