Mozilla Firefox Browswer

Post by browneyedgirl » Sun Jan 01, 2006 3:47 am

The computer my son rigged up for me uses this browser&I already had some annoyances with it! I had to reset the computer after it disconnected from the network&I got a Zone Alarm??? WTF? Pardon my ignorance, but I know nothing about any of this :~( My son is working now&when he gets off work he is going to a friend's house to party the new year in&I suspect he will not be back for a couple days. ;) :( The point is, I'd like some info about this browser VERY soon, so I'll know what I'm dealing with here!!!! :)

It's working OK now--so far. ???

firefox is cool. :)
i guess, when you say "disconnected from the network" you mean close that browser? which kind of zone alarm did you get? i think you got it because of some website you were browsing are not secure or safe, but nothing to do with the browser itself. but i might be wrong, so post the alarm content and we will be able to help you more.

i personally like firefox very much. i'm still using IE at home but firefox at work&school. the main reason is i need its javascript console and other debugging tools, but consider the browser's basic functionalities it is better than IE.
if you want to know firefox you can always check http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/

they have plugins too. you can find millions of them through Internet, some are very useful, some are...just for fun.
i once heard a plugin for firefox. can't remember the exact name, but i will call it "fire...whatever", 'cos the only feature is to allow you change the displayed name from fireFOX to fireCAT,fireDOG,firePANDA,fireWHATEVER...and change the logo to that animal to. quite useful huh?
maybe we can do a...hmmm...fire...dance one?maybe even a fire dance suit...blah!better shut up before talking too much nonsense...

I had Firefox installed once and got rid of it after couple of weeks. It is the shittiest browser I know ...

If you want something similar - try Opera, it is much better, but still has its problems with Java applications and language support (I guss it's not a problem for you but I simply can't write anything in Hebrew which is right-to-left language) ...

Firefox is definitively better than IE. I'm actually using it to navigate on StratoForums.
Toutes choses étant égales, par ailleurs, la solution la plus simple est toujours la meilleure.

Firefox is the best browser, a million times better than f*cking virus-IE. It's even better than Opera.

By the way, remember this danger: New computer virus has poisoned IE and if you use it, you could get it. Also with mozilla: if you download some video or even picture or there is some pop up with this virus, you get it. It makes lot of shit to you... I believe that I have it now, and my computer is now totally insane. F*cking microsoft!

So far it is working OK. My son has IE on his main PC--and he hooked this computer up to the same phone line. Something weird happened when I turned it on yesterday: it said something about the broswer disconnected from the network&data was lost? I think my son put a couple things on here to save&they were gone. ??? I don't know what happened other than that! I guess I'll find out later when Vic returns. :) The only sites I have been on have been this forum, TTs forum&that site "what kind of killer are you?" And On it I got a Mature content warning from Mozilla. Thats all the sites I've been to on this thing! :)

I recommend using opera, firefox and IE as well. I really hate IE, but sometimes we just can't do anything but using IE, as there are sites, that will not work with the other 2 browsers.

I'm using Opera as default, but there are some sites that work faster/better under Firefox.

So my advice is, don't delete it, keep it, and get Opera as well.

i think the better solution is to use firefox(or opera) as default, and keep IE as a backup. you can't get rid of IE, or M$.

i don't like opera that much, but i know it's my prejudice...once i had to re-write the whole website menu system because of opera, it simply f**ked everything up. firefox never gave me such trouble. :)
the main problem with IE, i guess, it' the ActiveX thingie, and the security issue it brings. that's M$'s fault. but i won't blame micro$oft if i get virus, trojan, spyware or any of these stuff. it's the f**king hackers and "intelligent" teenagers who find themselves smart by attacking people and destroying things -that, should take this responsibility. think if everyone, or maybe just 60%-70% of us, is using firefox, then of course all the viruses and spywares go to firefox. micro$soft wants to monopolize the market, so they monopolizes viruses as well. they reap what they sow, fair enough. don't like their way of doing business? choose something else and help to break their market dominance, but never express your anger by attacking other victims. get into trouble by using their products? find who really makes these trouble and blame them, M$ dislikes these trouble as much as you do.
yeah, that's just my opinion. sometimes i do feel sorry for mirco$oft...

Normally I use still IE, just coz it´s the easiest and most well-known for me to use it. Although it´s not so safe one. I´m also using Opera but sometimes I think it´s quite difficult to use. That´s why I have kept it as a backup. But maybe I´ll download the Firefox too, because I´ve used it lots of at school where IE doesn´t have worked so well and Netscape is rubbish. And I have to say that my experiences of it have been nice. So, maybe in the nearity I have Firefox too and perhaps as a default too. Just have to see... :)

I started using Firefox in 2003(ish), and I haven't used IE since, other than for checking that my websites function properly. Not that I mind Internet Explorer (I think it was yet another security flaw that convinced me to switch. I threw out Outlook and installed Thunderbird at the same time), but Firefox is just better. Opera is good to, but I prefer Firefox's GUI.

My mozilla has been down now several days and I am not going to ever use again diabolical IE, so I have to use Opera... opera is quite good, but I miss Firefox whole time when I'm using this...

yea, firefox is what i'm using... the only problem i had with it (and this was on my old crusty, moody, piece-of-poo computer that was filled with problems)... the bookmarks kept disappearing! that was a real pain in the ass. on my new computer however, that hasn't happened (yet) *knock on wood*

i still have IE, since as someone said, some things ONLY open in explorer, but i don't like it -- it makes me nervous for some reason and always has :?

I also use firefox since about two years now, it's definitely the best browser I tried until now. IE is too risky, and the T-Online Software is very embarassing with all it's fucking commercials :x
