With the right man, at the right time children are a beautiful addition to a relationship.

By the way, the relationship rules are only written out when the two (or more!) parties involved write/sign them. Anything is possible and any agreement is right when it's all between the persons involved. Monogamy is just one, quite succesful fashion but not a universal rule.
is not a universal rule but believe me...I really think polygamy is an utopia (at least in us, human beings). It maybe sounds interesting and fun when your feelings are "free". But once you find the one you love and feel connected with, you really don't wanna share him/her. And I'm not even talking about fairy tale stories, but a natural feeling of possesion. So, polygamy would become a nightmare sooner or later.
I guess I wasn't quite clear, I most certainly think it's best to stick with one at a time. But the idea of getting married or otherwise securing the relationship doesn't really hit me, as if it was meant to last forever it would. Pressure of idealistic ways of thinking might just make things harder, but anyone can go their way. All I was saying is that whatever might be utopia for one could be reality for another and nobody would be wrong if nobody gets hurt. Personally I'm quite the monogamous type btw.

True, many women today do not want kids. Hence falling fertility rates in most of the developed world.

Which isn't all that bad, I mean there are over 6 billion of us as it is
Close your eyes and try to remember, destroyed lullabies of days gone by
Close your eyes on the edge of forever, a chance to dream fast asleep your nightmare ends

So I am "developed form of polygamy"?

In spite of the beauty, joy and challenge of having children, these days it is a troubled&often harsh world---and IMO, it would be somewhat cruel&selfish to bring a child into it. I'm not being pessimistic, but realistic. However, I would not try to talk a married couple, for example, out of having a child if they have thought about it&planned responsibly for the child.

Actually it depends on the women. It's true that more and more of them don't want any child, because they simply want to enjoy their life (it's the same reason why many women want to get divorced after only a few years. It's a part of the "Women Revolution" or "Women Freedom" or "Women Independance" or whatever it is called). One reason is also because it's difficult to (be interested in) raising a child when you see how many divorces are around.
On the other hand, there are MANY of my (girl) friends who absolutely want to have a child, even if they don't have any husband or boyfriend. 2 of them had sex with a kind of "one night stand" guy just to get pregnant. When I asked their opinion, they simply told me, word by word : "a child is the most beautiful thing ever! why can't I have one and raise him by myself ? And why would I need a boyfriend ? Nowadays women don't need any men!". That sums up everything.
This is wrong
