Whats your favorite style of metal?

Yes, I understand that many people think "I like all metal styles" but I'm sure that nearly everyone has one favourite style. So vote for it!

My vote goes for "Classic heavy metal" :headbang:

It's not trash, it's thrash metal.

I listen bands of many genres, but if I had to choose one, I'd say power metal (Helloween, Blind Guardian, Kamelot, Stratovarius...).

Actually, I like Metal from many different genres--even Dark Metal, Goth&Classic. So, even though I voted Power--I actually am not too picky.

I judge my likes on the music itself!

And, individual songs!

Power all the way (Strato, Helloween, Rhapsody, Sonata Arctica [even if they don't admit it

But I also like heavy/thrash (Maiden, Megadeth, the old Metallica), prog (Dream Theater, Rush and Symphony X) and classical (Led Zeppelin, Rainbow)

death metal and all it's variations (technical, progressive, melodic, raw, etc...) and bandas like Dark Tranquillity, Cynic, Death, Pestilence, Necrophagist, Atheist, Dying Fetus, Deicide, In Flames and so on; then comes power, heavy and progressive stuff, you know, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Symphony X, SONATA ARCTICA, old Stratovarius, old Nightwish, Helloween, Cacophony...

I voted for power but in addition to that style I like also prog power (but not full progressive, it´s too tricky for me), folk, heavy/thrash and a bit of classical too.

Power here. Speed would be my second choice.

Still, labelling music is totally stupid, especially nowadays.
For ex, most of the Power metal bands take elements from Speed, they use orchestra and vocal harmonies from Symphonic, sometimes they have a singing like Trash or Black Metal. Gamma Ray for ex, has jazzy-blue & heavy-metal & hard rock & speed & symphonic & rock...

Yes yes but still, I really don't think that example person X would say to Y like this: "the best metal style is power metal just because Stratovarius plays it and strato kicks ass"

And anyway, there are maybe some persons in this forum who likes strato but they don't truly love them.

Yeah, but these ppl may usually like lots of other power or "similar" bands and also listen to Strato, though that isn´t their fav.

Well, to me Strato is mainly only power metal band that I like (though I like example Helloween also a bit)...
