Finally I managed to reach the forum...

My belated congratulations to Finland! I'm much more glad because of Lordi's triumph than because of Russian singer's second place. When the contest was over, Russian TV presenter said: "You have just seen how Evil won Good" :)

"Hard Rock Hallelujah!"

It's great they won, of course! Of course Lordi is a total Kiss, King Diamond and Rob Zombie ripp-off, but that's not what it's about. It's just about the rip-roaring fun of hard rock, just like AC/DC. I don't understand why nobody thought of this sooner, though. I mean, every time I watched that Eurovision Bong [sic] Contest, I thought: "Any rock band out there would eat those pop wussies alive..." I mean, just imagine Johnny Logan finishing his "song" and then a band like Stratovarius, Van Halen (the vintage line-up) or Guns 'n Roses stepping onto the stage. That would be like minnows fighting the great white shark...

Now, I know this all sounds a bit like Spinal Tap, but isn't that the whole idea behind true rock 'n roll, that "I'll-show-you-something-spectacular" attitude. Don't take my word for it, though. Take Iggy Pop's, or David Lee Roth's, or Axl Rose's, or Ozzy Osbourne's. A little bit of that resides in all of us, that hunger for the totally outrageous. And - contrary to what those conservative Greek religious groups would say - "thank God for that!"

By the way, if any of you haven't seen Lordi's performance yet, or want to watch some of their other videos, check out this link, where you'll also find Lordi's music videos:

Cheers to y'all and rock on!

How tragic it is to come from the United Kingdom, a nation that sends a berk with a name like a washing detergent. Now that Lordi have shown how it SHOULD be done, let's hope we pull our fingers out our arses and send Dragonforce next year!
And hey, you gave 12 points for us  but NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Not DRAGONFORCE! Let's talk about pure shock effect and put Cradle Of Filth :D or King Crimson! :D that would be a sight to see :P (if Robert Fripp just could by any chance get a song of his to fit in 3 and half minutes  )

Personally I was very happy about the good success of Lithuania :) they showed that total parody about anything on Eurovision tradions can take you far :) at best they were fourth!!! :D Go Lithuania! it really asks some b*lls to send something like that in Eurovision :D I liked that song very much :)
Oh, and I did party through all night 'couse of Lordi's victory and the revolution in Eurovision :D ROCK 'N ROLL!!! 8)

And Pasi from (the awful...) Thunderstone did the backing vocals on Lordi´s show. Just for info.

I think that you if you don't like a band you just may say that you simply don't like it. It is not fair to characterize it like that!

do u know if he was also doing the backing vocals during the performance at the Eurovision (the guy on the right side of the stage, dressed as The Death, and with make-up on his face like Kiss. that one : http://servicios.lasprovincias.es/valen ... 789397.jpg) ?

Pic : http://www.monsterdiscohell.com/multime ... 006_04.jpg

well, that's your opinion about Thunderstone. Still, you can't deny that Pasi is an amazing singer (at least in "studio") :-)

No, that I don´t know, but the character really looks like Pasi... Maybe he was doing that?

Yes, Pasi is though a good singer (and Mirka very good drummer) but IMO their main band is just wrong - at least for me.

That might be really possible, coz the second picture was shot backstage in Athens for the Eurovision... and also coz seeing that guy during the vote counting, I couldn't help but think that I have already met him.

And Kari is also a really good keyboard player!
That's true, the band still miss something to be "great" (especially live), but it's still good imo. I'd say one bad thing is that pp usually consider them like if they are a new Strato (playing double bass drums, high vocals and everything...) but their music is basically a kind of heavy rock (a bit like Masterplan).

Dude, we think alike. That would be outrageous indeed. Too bad they wouldn 't be allowed to play Stonehenge because they have to play a song that was originally written for the Eurovision Bong Contest. But all the old props and the set could still be used:

Actually Hard Rock Hallelujah was allready released on album when Lordi parttaked to the song contest  but yeah, as long as the outrageous props are included, any song will do just fine :D and if they finaly make some new material, that's just better! 8)

This is awesome ,i listened some songs from this guys and these songs are far from being good. And i wonder what kind of a maniac prefers this type of clothing ?I also did not like their scene show ,it is awesome again. Some can likte this grup ,but i think this is a shame that this group won the contest, and in turkey some of the newspapers wrote that lordi is a metal band. Is not that awesome ? Lordi is different than the other bands that made them win the contest nothing more ,nothing less.I want to forgot that this group has ever existed, even thinking somebody guess this group as a metal band...

No they aren't, since that is absolute truth in most cases... everybody who has listened even a bit guitar-based, avarage-tempo or high tempo music will surely find Kiss, Wasp, Judas Priest and other band's like those inspiring highly their music (though, despite the focus on the monster-image, their music is well made heavy rock and 80's style metal :D )... But for one that listens the avarage pop-crap-shit thinks them as just another growling death metal band worshipping satan (or practising satanism, wich they think to be the very same than worshipping satan)...

Too pop for metal people, and too metal for the pop people :D glad the world still holds love for hard rock as well
