In Helsinki this weekend, where can I get Koskenkorva?

Post by NeonVomit » Thu Nov 16, 2006 4:32 am

A pretty last-minute arrangement means I'll be coming to Helsinki this weekend, to visit a friend of mine. I want to bring some of this legendarily lethal liquid back to the UK with me. Is it easily available in shops and stuff?

Legally only in Alko-liquor stores. Their logo is easy to find by the way.

Ok, well I'm back at my friend's place after an... interesting first 24 hours in this country.

I stepped off the plane and nearly walked into a door since I was staring at this girl. The girls in Finland are gorgeous! Anyway, I took the bus to central Helsinki, and got off to kill some time while my friend finished from work. The city centre is very beautiful, old-style but still modern.

Anyway, my mate met me outside a metro station, and we went back to his place and hit the bottle. I drink quite a bit of Koff (not bad beer!) and some other things... things get fuzzy... my friend says something about a rave party... I have vague recollections of a car ride...

I wake up at 12:30 midnight in a warehouse in Tampere with a massive rave party going on around me. I think 'Hell yeah' and carry on drinking.

Timo Tolkki says something about Finns being considered cold in 'The Land Of Ice And Snow' and I cannot see how anyone could have that misconception. The people I've met so far have all been friendly, warm, open and generous.

Overall, I really really like this country!

True, even though I've never been to Finland and have only met 2 Finns in person, I have made many Finnish friends online and I honestly cannot think of one that I have met that was not an awesome human being.

Anyway, I'm seething with jealousy...how was your Kossu experience?
