BTW, although Obama wants us out of Iraq, he mentioned shifting troops to Afghanistan. WTF? ??? Spending for war is spending for war!
I want my share of those taxes back!!!!!!! :)
I don't support the war in Iraq, but I do support the war in Afghanistan because that's where the taliban is supposed to be hiding
Also, a large portion of the worlds drug trade is supposedly located in Afghanistan in the poppy fields to get the opium used to make heroin. This is a touchy thing because helpful drugs like codiene&morphine(just ask any Cancer patient)come from opium. And, when I was in heavy labor Demorol(a derivative of morphine)helped me immensely.
Some say finding these farmers&legally regulating these fields would keep the usefulness of opium, yet do away with the Talibans part in it. The money the Taliban receives from opium sales is said to finance their terrorist operations/activities.

There is one single word describing how all this could happen; I never read it so frequently before like these days in the newspapers. This is why all this gigantic bubble could build up and now implode. This is why companys throw out employees just to please "the market", that some fond managers could give a better prognosis on the company so the share price could rise. This is why a small percentage of people in the world hold more than 80% of the world's wealth. This is why megalomaniac speculators were able to build up a kind of parallel universe, dealing with billions and trillion, never really considering or caring about the consequences on the real economics, on society, on employees. It all melts down in one word:

G R E E D

Ah, I remember those good ol' Stratovarius lyrics like

hate and greed getting stronger day by day, injustice rules the world...

so let's break free from these chains of fear, hate and greed...

Yep. I saw that in a documentary in NatGeo. I don't remember the name of this great truth, though.
I really dislike war. It is senseless. But because terrorists spread their truths with bombs, I think it's better to fight fire with fire. If only extremists would understand that violence is not the answer...

What People Eat Around The World Photoset http://www.aboutcolonblank.com/2008/02/ ... -photoset/

An interesting link about how much people in different countries spend for food. It seems the mid-range is the healthiest, like the Italians&Polish, and Japanese, while UK&USA eat lots of processed and junk food which is pretty costly.

Since my son left home I don't spend more than 20 bucks at the grocery store: no snacks, ice cream, only 1-2 liter cola a week, no cigs, etc. It takes planning to shop right. The only splurges I allow myself are chocolate bars, and a case of beer every 2 weeks.
This past week the local supermarket had whole fryers for .59 cents a pound and I got 10 of those suckers! :D Also, ground beef was $1.19 a pound, and I bought 10 pounds of that stuff, rolled 1/3 into meatballs, 1/3 into patties&the rest to make a meatloaf. I froze it all for later. I have 12 packs of weiners put away, and several roasts, and probably 50 pound of ribs.
The thing about meat freezer storage though, is it has to be used within a year or it gets freezer burnt&loses its flavor.
The next thing is to find a cheap turkey, or 2. Turkeys don't usually go on sale until November.
No shortage of cheap turkeys in Alabama. :D

It's all so easy...

The Great Illusion is crumbling.

Now, all the asserters of uncontrolled capitalism are nowhere to be seen or heard. Let's pray that the time really has come, that neo-liberalism has ended and social market economy will establish (again) as the one and only way, to have a prospering economy AND social security systems for the working people (that don't make millions just by speculating with some imaginary derivate bullshit).

Absolutely. I have an advice:
When your boss pushes you around, don't quit. Find a job first and then submit a form that proves you are in one. Give it to your boss and say "it was nice working here, but I decided to move on." Hit the companies where they really get hurt. In this case, money.

We have never had uncontrolled capitalism. The problems have come from partly because of non market influences. When governments give special privileges to one group over others or make rules in one area but leave a free for all in another, that can't be called free market. Capitalism has inherent controls in that people are aware of business practices and keep checks and balances on them. It can't be proven that free market drives people into casino like habits. The uncontrolled free market is more of an ideology ideal then something that can or has become a reality that has failed. If we had a science of how to do economics then the system would be in place and we could all live happily ever after. Communism had a way to end speculation and I don’t think that ended up with the best results, but of course that system is still in the process of turning into communism with a undefined time period. Mixed market capitalism can be the most practical but it also depends on what rules are in placed and if people are left with holes that allow them to cheat the system and be too risky with too much at stake to fail. At the moment the mix of the USA is that of private profits and public loses.

Hint: Hoard up Toilet Paper, its a great bartering item. ;)
If worse comes to worse, a person could trade a roll of toilet paper for a box of matches, for example, or even a few canned goods. Its the "feeling good" factor. Nobody wants to wipe their butt on a corncob, or leaves, for example.

Hard core survivalist tip there^. :)

True. Except some exceptions, that's the way mankind is living.

Why would anyone want to do that? :? Except in times where a person would want to protect their family from rogues who want to harm, kill, or steal from others. You may think the idea of people being "survivalists" is funny, but if it gets that bad in the world they will be the ones strong enough to make it. Hopefully it will never get that bad, but even if it does not some of those skills will be helpful.
Being a survivalist is not about using a gun, its simply knowing how to live, and make it on, as little resources as you can.

im sure new york and LA will have a great time with survivalism. they are alerady doing so well with overpopulation and not creating their own resources that it should be a easy shift. if perople can keep the simple concept of a balenced budget and positive cashflow then hopefully we can avoid some of these situations of collapse. certain areas are better fitted for less government and they are the ones that can survive better. i guess those are the ones palin calls the real america as soppose to fake america or the people that love america because they vote R vs the people that hate america and vote D. i wonder what she calls small town D voters but i guess that D over rides small town and those people hate america and are not the real america to her.

Survivalists? I'll head to the Smoky Mountains (my family has a cabin up there) if it gets that bad. I spent a lot of summers up there growing up, and know the area rather well. Not that they are my favorite sports, but if I have to hunt and fish to survive, then so be it.

The waterfall is beautiful! In times of need, fresh water is the most needed resource.
