Of course Kiske would have never agreed to appear on the album, because that Weikath asshole appears on too.Ragehead91 wrote:Fuck Kai and especially fuck Kiske. The point of the album was to show that they could do a Keeper Album with the current Line-Up! And I think they did that perfectly! Not with any guest appereances. That Kiske asshole would've never agreed to appear on the album anyway since he things Metal is dead.
The 2 first true Keepers are a part of the Metal history. They were excellent and that's why they will rest forever in the Metal history.
The Legacy is called "Keeper" just because the band wanted to recall his old fans. Money, money...

Nope. They wanted to prove that they can do a Keeper Album with the new line-up. And they did that just fine. It is overall a great album, maybe not as good as the first II, but worthy to carry he name "Keeper of the Seven Keys". And I don't care if they call it "The Legacy". To me it simply is "Keeper of the Seven Keys Part III". An epic closure to a series of concept albums that never were concept albums.

Re: I'M OFFENDED BY A STRATOVARIUS SONG!!!!
Maybe if they made a one disc album with only the best tracks it would've been close. Florian said it well, no matter how good the songs are, it's not going to be a Keeper Of The Seven Keys -album. The original ones were something radical and new and will always remain in their own league in heavy metal hall of fame. In my opinion it still is infinitely better than Gamma Ray's attempt at making Land Of The Free II.
And in case you feel like raging, Mrs. God is one of my favourites from The Legacy. Reminds me of Dr. Stein and Rise & Fall, therefore making it a true Keepers-song.

Re: I'M OFFENDED BY A STRATOVARIUS SONG!!!!
I thought I opened the offended topic, but it's a Helloween discussion. Well, not bad!
Actually Master of the Rings and The Time of the Oath are more or less Keeper related albums too, so Legacy's kinda Keeper V to put it that way.
Yeah, I think that was a commercial thing. Nevertheless, the album is maybe their best post-Roland and -Uli work, at least the most versatile, no denying there. I think it's a great album, and would be one of all-time greatest if the second CD fillers and Mrs. God (I can't fucking stand the riff!) were out and it was all stuffed to one CD.
At least Kai was against the album's title... and did the Land of the Free II two years after. *sigh*
I found much originality from Legacy, too. I'd never heard a song anywhere near the style of Occasion Avenue before. AND that ear ripping Mrs. God riff was kinda new-school for me, too, I have to admit. >_< Also some thought put to it as in Silent Rain and Born on Judgment Day for example.
But, yeah, like you can see, I prefer calling it just (The) Legacy anyway. The style differs from first Keepers that much, it's more general Helloween of today somehow. This is bad, but at least they still manage to impress me, album after album.

I think The Time Of The Oath is the greatest Helloween album since Kai's departure. And Gambling With The Devil is the greatest since The Time Of The Oath I think.

I'm undecided between TTotO and The Dark Ride of the post-Keeper albums. None of them is bad or anything, not even Pink Bubbles or Chameleon.Florian wrote:I think The Time Of The Oath is the greatest Helloween album since Kai's departure. Re: I'M OFFENDED BY A STRATOVARIUS SONG!!!!
Pink Bubbles is average IMO and Chameleon is a little worst. There's only one Helloween album that I can't stand at all: The Dark Ride. Only 2 or 3 good songs and I really can't hear the others...

Re: I'M OFFENDED BY A STRATOVARIUS SONG!!!!
I never really understood why most of the fans don't like "The Dark Ride". It is an awesome album and granted, it isn't the same style of the previous albums. but that doesn't mean it is bad. Songs like "Mr. Torture", "Escalation 666", "The Dark Ride", "The Departed (Sun is Going Down), Mirror-Mirror, If I Could Fly...The only changed I've made is that I switched "I Live for your Pain" and "All Over The Nations" with the Bonus Tracks "The Madness of the Crowds" and "Deliver Us From Temptation" which I think are superior and should've been on the album.

Land Of The Free II is good IMO, yes. But not as good as the great, the beautiful, the magnificent first part.

Re: I'M OFFENDED BY A STRATOVARIUS SONG!!!!
Really? I might even think of LotF II as... the best Gamma Ray album. Second best? Third? Kinda hard to say, I think most of their albums are solid works that are "up there" in music, and the second Land of the Free really is a part of that group. I can say I like it more than that disconnected Land of the Free which, for some reason, became kind of their breakthrough album. There are some songs I can't connect, much variation in the goodness of music, and the album lacks the identity the second part, NWO, SOiS and even Majesty definitely has. But these things are everyone's personal thoughts, would need some higher-class understanding to see why someone likes a particular album when someone else doesn't. Well, I of course like it, just not as much as almost every other Rayz work, sans at least Sigh No More, Insanity & Genius, and maybe Majestic.
Ragehead91: That's good news, although I think you can't call it an album anymore if you change the order or amount of the songs or even replace the songs with others as you do. For me, The Dark Ride works especially as an entity. I'm not so fond of all its tracks - I always wondered why I think it's such a great album even though especially the third quarter ain't that enjoyable in my mind. Perhaps I just like the feel, the atmosphere of the album. Plus, it's something Helloween hadn't done in full scale before. More serious, dark. Also, Deris' voice suits it perfectly.
I've heard many speaking against All Over the Nations, but I like it. Just as I like The Tune, Born on Judgment Day, The Saints... Those pleasant Weikie songs they usually put to the beginning. They always tend to be some third, fourth best songs on their albums in my opinion.
I don't know if there's any true pattern in this, I don't believe there is, but I just happen to like these songs even though especially AOtN and The Tune aren't that much liked overally I think. Anyway, the best single moments of the album definitely are Mr. Torture, Immortal (Stars) and The Dark Ride, in my opinion. If I Could Fly was my favorite at first, but somehow, its magic has faded since.
<EDIT>
Might as well go with this group thing once more...
1. The best Gamma Ray albums
Heading for Tomorrow, Somewhere Out in Space, Land of the Free II
2. Extremely close for being the best Gamma Ray albums
Powerplant, No World Order!
3. Other great albums
Land of the Free
4. Enjoyable, yet not by any means my favorites
Sigh No More, Majestic
5. Least enjoyable, still not completely worthless, but anyway I'm not going to buy it if I don't get it with a very low price, even though my Gamma Ray collection won't be perfect without it
Insanity & Genius

Note that Powerplant was once my favorite, but I think I listened to it too much in too short period of time. Still, Armageddon still is my absolute favorite Gamma Ray song.

Re: I'M OFFENDED BY A STRATOVARIUS SONG!!!!
I like almost all Gamma Ray albums. There are only 2 albums which I can't really get in: No World Order (the worst Gamma Ray album in my opinion, but there are kickass songs, like Dethrone Tyranny, Heart Of The Unicorn or Follow Me) and Insanity & Genius. I don't think this one is really bad, but just not as good as the other albums. I think it is just average.
Favorite albums: Heading For Tomorrow, Sigh No More, Land Of The Free, Power Plant.

Why can't I call it an album anymore? To me it still is. And ti sounds a lot better than with those two other songs. Agan, why did they use "The Madness of the Crowds" and "Deliver us from Temptation" as b-sides? Those songs are just awesome! I did the same with Masterplan's Aeronautics were I exchanged "Wounds" with "Love is a Rock". Seriously, how come "Love is a Rock" is a b-side? This song kicks major ass!Intiaani wrote: Ragehead91: That's good news, although I think you can't call it an album anymore if you change the order or amount of the songs or even replace the songs with others as you do. Well, I also don't relly like "All Over The Nations". Mainly because the song doesn't fit the album at all. Most of "The Dark Ride" songs are dark and more serious and this one just doesn't fit into the concept. Same for Salvation although I like this one a bit more.
You forgot to mention "The Departed (Sun Is Going Down)" One of my if not the favourite Helloween tune of me.

Re: I'M OFFENDED BY A STRATOVARIUS SONG!!!!
Maybe I've gotten traumas from that ridiculous Beautiful Sin remake of The Departed (Sun Is Going Down).
Uli's new band. But, well, I've never liked it that much, for some reason. Just average, good Dark Ride metal for me.
Dunno, maybe AOtN works for me precisely because it's a lighter piece among those dark ones that surround it?
Well, for me, albums are meant to be like the bands want them to be. You could make it a better collection of songs by removing or adding or changing the songs or their orders, but it's not what's it supposed to be anymore.
Nah, this is pointless... just don't take this as a provocation. ;D Of course I know what you mean.
You're right about Love Is a Rock. But, I can very well understand why this is a bonus track. It's so... Whitesnakean. It's not what belongs to a Masterplan record. As an Ark or The Snakes song, this would have been an album track. A good one. A kick-ass one. I'm glad they put it to bonus, anyway.
I actually like Wounds. Those four songs after it are what kinda ruin the record for me.

Re: I'M OFFENDED BY A STRATOVARIUS SONG!!!!
Okay, I have to disagree a bit. Just for the Hell of it, a Track by Track review for Aeronautics:
1. Crimson Rider:
Very nice opener. Killer refrain. I would've loved if Jorn sang this song more rough, but defenitly nice.
2. Back for My Life:
This is the song a lot of ppl hate. Why? I really don't know. The only problem I have with the song is the lack of a guitar solo. But overall it is a great ballad. Love it. And the video they made for the song is also great.
3. Wounds
I don't like this song. Don't ask me why, it is just something about this song that I don't like. I don't know what.
4. I'm Not Afraid:
Starts with a killer Intro. It built up a lot of momentum. I expected a sort of fast, double-bass killer song after that intro so I was a bit disappointed that they slowed down and the refrain was only mid-tempo at best. Still nice.
5. Headbanger's Ballrom: Now THIS is what I would call Whitesnake/The snakes Material. It is a nice song but I don't really think it belongs on a Masterplan record.
6. After this War:
Interesting Fact: The Song was originaly recorded for Iron Savior, Jan S. Eckert's former band, on their 2001 album with a different arrangement and the name "After the War". Actually I like the original version more. I'm a bit disappointed that they didn't use that epic guitar intro they used in the Original version. Still a nice ballad.
7. Into the Arena:
This song kicks major ass! One of my favourites! Very intense and Jorn singing like he did on the S/T album from 2003. The album needs more of this.
8. Dark From the Dying:
Another Mid-Tempo song. Very nice stuff. Again I think this would be better if Jorn sang it more rough.
9. Falling Sparrow:
The band picks up the pace again with this song. But still nothing really spectacular. Again, this would be better if Jorn was singing it more rough and with more power. I really think the way Jorn sings this song drags it down.
10. Black in the Burn:
Wow, what a masterpiece! This is propably the best song from the album! The only thing I don't really like is the refrain because, again, Jorn puts all the power out of his voice.
11. Treasure World:
Japanese Bonus Track I think. Nice song. Nothing really special. Understandable why they used it as a bonus track.
12. Hopes and Dreams:
Interesting Fact. Remember the Instrumental "Beautiful Sin" from Beautiful Sin's first album? This 2 minute ballad is what the instrumental was based on. Really sad that it is only 2 minutes long.
13. Love is a Rock:
I don't know what's so Whitesnake about it. This sing is just killer and I don't understand why it is a b-side. I guess they also thing it should've been on the album. At least that explains why they played it on the Aeronautics tour.
14./15.: Killing In Time/Instrumental:
Also don't really understand why this is a b-side. It is not as good as Love is a rock but definitly better than wounds and Headbangers Ballroom.
I somehow understand why ppl don't like this one as much as the S/T. It lacks, for the lack of a better word, balls. The whole thing is less heavy and more melodic. The songs are a lot less intense, Jorn's voice is mroe melodic and not that powerfull, The guitars are not that Heavy and overall it is just a lot more tame than S/T. For me that doesn't make it bad, it makes it different. But I can understand why ppl don't like it.

And what do you mean that Icecar has one?! Who is that buffoon?!
