You see, I am an argentinian, and here everything is upside down. We laugh with J, not H (jaja instead of haha), so a duck makes "cuack" to us, not "quack" (makes me think of Quacker

Re: Avantasia - The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon leaked
Well, I was listening to the albums and...they are better than I expected. Anyway, it's more or less what I was expecting.
Jens solo in Angel of Babylon is a really REALLY good one, but the song is just...meh.
Kulick's solo in stargazers and all the guitar in the song is just fantastic. The guitar work on both albums are really good. A lot of long and good solos.
Allen songs are just ok, he sings fantastic as always, the voice is the only good thing that I can extract of the tracks by Allen.
I don't like the songs very much, in almost every track I don't like the way they are composed. It's like to have very good musicians directed by a not that good composer.
The drums are bad for me in both albums.
And I'm tired too of the way Sammet sings.
So, my conclusion is that I'd like to hear some songs just for the guitar solos and cut the rest. Jens solo is really good, specially from 3:56 to 4:14.
6/10

For me Tobias is one of the better composers out there and I think the fact that all these guys participate in his projects show that he is valued and respected as a composer among many musicians in the metal and rock business.

I listened to the albums again. I still don't like them. They don't work in any single of the genres it tries to be. It doesn't work as power metal and it doesn't work as hard rock.
Sammet has really lost it. I thought that The Scarecrow was just a fluke, but I was wrong. He has ruined both Edguy and Avantasia.

I like this better than The Scarecrow. If you took the best songs from both albums, then you got yourself a pretty decent album (and a very crappy album too if you took the other songs).
Now Jens' solo in Angel of Babylon is overwhelming, as usual!
I too am tired of the way Tobias has been singing. Andre Matos, on the other hand, is singing better every day.
Well, it's better than I expected. Some times it sucks hard, some times there are glimpses of brilliance, but overall it's got a few good songs.
And yea, the drums are crap.

Re: Avantasia - The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon leaked
For me the albums are like this.
The Wicked Symphony ++
Wastelands ++
Scales of Justice +
Dying for an Angel ++
Blizzard of a Broken Mirror ++
Runaway Train ++
Crestfallen ++
Forever Is a Long Time ---
Black Wings +
States of Matter +
The Edge -
Stargazers ++
Angel of Babylon ++
Your Love Is Evil +
Death Is Just a Feeling +++
Rat Race ++
Down in the Dark -
Blowing Out the Flame+
Symphony of Life -
Alone I Remember --
Promised Land +
Journey to Arcadia -
While I think AoB is better "on paper", The Wicked Symphony is more eclectic and interesting, fresh, actually some strong 8/10. Angel of Babylon basically has a killer first half, but the end half is the worst part of these albums (apart from Forever Is a Long Time that is so empty filler it's ridiculous - even Jorn won't save it). The best tracks in my opinion are surprisingly Blizzard on a Broken Mirror, a fragile song that progresses with very good taste, and Death Is Just a Feeling. Both The Wicked Symphony and Stargazers let me down a little; I excepted some big song magia that for example The Scarecrow offers.
I especially love Kiske vocals on TWS: loudest and highest in years for Wastelands, and possibly strongest ever mid register on Runaway Train? Matos, Lande and Allen deliver especially well as always (although I think States of Matter doesn't fit to Allen that well), and Ralf Zdiarstek actually just told me on Black Wings that he has an extremely charismatic and eclectic voice. He sounds like some clergyman having a sermon there! ^.^ Sammet, on the other hand, has gone downhill. So much power, but that bit of a rasp there has been since 2006 or so really doesn't fit his voice. Constantly makes him sound like he's caught a cold. Never liked that over-the-top vibrato either.
He just shows off with it; he didn't have it in at least Savage Poetry.
Also special thanks to Sascha Paeth for quality fresh guitar work and Jens for an awesome solo with both quickness and view. I still don't know any other metal keyboardist this good on both sides. (And I'm not that big a fan of Dream Theater.

I actually liked the guitar work on The Scarecrow better probably because Henjo Richter did a lot of Lead Guitars on the thing. Although I agree that Sascha Paeth is a very talented Guitar Player.
Re: Avantasia - The Wicked Symphony and Angel of Babylon leaked
Overall, as I've said before, I don't like the album at all; yet there ARE some songs I've found pretty interesting and somehow I liked them: Wastelands is one, and the other is Crestfallen. So, not bad at all
