Hoooly crap!

I love it, if this is what the rest of the album is going to be like i'm sold!
That's definetly metal.

I was actually listening to Mrs.God when i clicked on this topic, yeah it's a bit different isn't it? :P

I do have one complaint though..I know this is the single and is supposed to be catchy but i think they could of cut one or two ''Are you metal?!'' off...

Video doesn't work anymore. You can all check it on their website though.

:user: A few thoughts:

1) The chorus is not catchy or melodic, and the sound is bland and commercial. Nothing like "Helloween" in any sense; more like a random metal band with Andi Deris screaming.
2) The guitar solo is lame.
3) The lyrics are terrible and the song has no real message. "Are you Metal"? No, no, I am not. Quit yelling at me. :nervous: How many more self-referencing metal songs will my ears have to suffer through? Its almost as if listening to Judas Priest was part of Hammurabi's Code.
4) Like a fat chick, this video is a little too heavy for my taste. When bands run out of original ideas, they turn in this heavy and dark direction. No good can come out of the same bland songwriting, played louder and faster.
5) The video is ridiculous and unoriginal, but come on- who watches these things anyway? :shake:
6) My ass itches. :rvd:

I agree with you, is not Helloween, it sounds like an industrial metal band, I don't like it so much, & the video is horrible! Is too dark for my taste!

Hope Stratovarius don't follow the same path!

Except for the itching part, I'll have to go with AAAAAAAAAA here. :?
I really don't like it when Helloween tries to be "heavy" like this. Oh well, at least 7 Sinners has a chance to surprise me positively, but it's starting to look like that's not going to happen.

out of the three songs on the single i'd pick "im free" as the one that should have been the single. that song felt the most helloween to me. "are you metal" is the most different out of the three

Had the band made The Dark Ride parts II, III, III, IV, V, VI and VII, I wouldn't have complained.

You guys were complaining about Unarmed, and now you're complaining it is too dark...

First Helloween video since I want out that I like, and not just "like", but truly love!! Love the atmosphere, the direction, the story (this test to see whose Metal among those girls)...

As for the song... well, it's a blast, wonderfull song, catchy, heavy, POWER METAL!!!

Cant wait for the album and the 11 of January to see'em in Paris with Strato!!
Had the band made The Dark Ride parts II, III, III, IV, V, VI and VII, I wouldn't have complained.
Another fan of "The Dark Ride" good!! Dont seem to be many of us on Earth! ^^
Through the storms we've wandered
Many mountains we have climbed
But all the bad times are behind
The road is free - I'm coming home

I've been listening to I'm Free a lot more than the other two songs. I think it's indeed a lot catchier and Helloweenish than Are You Metal.

What makes bands waste great songs as mere bonus tracks is and always has been beyond me.

Well I like the song and I definitely will not complain about the video - Andi looks great! :luv1: :D The song's really heavy, which I love, but like somebody mentioned it doesn't feel much like Helloween. It has grown on me a little more now that I've heard it a couple of times, but I know they can do better than this! I'll wait to listen to the whole album, I know Helloween can't really dissapoint me :)

I agree; is an average song, I think Helloween has already given all they had to give to metal, they just keep releasing music for the fun of doing it and for thel loyal fan base, I think is more honorable doing tours and releasing music just when is good enough, as bands like deep purple, judas priest, yes etc.. does, in the end people only what to hear classics, and they are going to add like 3 or 4 new songs on the live set list anyway.
Im not buying that album.

by the way......is so lame the saw rip off video.......

Chorus sucked, but the rest of the song was awesome, even though I like I'm Free a lot more.

Also, I am one of the few that thought Unarmed was awesome. It's version of Dr. Stein, in my opinion, is better than the original.

I wouldn't go as far as calling it better but it is amazing, but i'm strange that way. I like when bands take odd choices rather then the easy obvious ones.

Unarmed.

The idea behind Unarmed had some merit, but in reality the songs turned out to be more of a joke than an alternate interpretation that I can take seriously. To those who want to hear these Helloween classics done right, I highly recommend Michael Kiske's solo album "Past in Different Ways", which is a fully acoustic remake of everything he wrote back then :)

Only song on the album that i found to be dissapointing was I Want Out, it was more like a Barney singalong than anything. :(

or it was like another brick in the wall, i'm sure that was more of a inspiration than barney for the arrangement.

Yes! Good bye, tiaras!!! :w00t: I think it's refreshing... I'm not a Helloween die hard fan but the song is different... so cheers to that!

The video? Well... the girls with all the Saw-wtf-reenactment-thing going on there... makes it look TACKY... and they can do so much better than that!

Next time: "Make it work boys, make it work!!!"
