Anyways, soon (in April) a group of highschool kids from all over Europe are coming to Ivalo for a Comenius class, and we're gonna show them around and stuff so if we'll get any good pictures of Ivalo r eachother, I'll post 'em here

I have a question, why is it impossible to find aspirin when you REALLY need it in Finland? :x

I'd woken up in Tampere the second day I was in Finland with a hangover of truly epic proportions (quite how I got to Tampere from Helsinki is still unclear... it's about 100 miles away) and I REALLY needed some aspirin or paracetamol or SOMETHING but apparently this is not an easy thing to find on a Saturday morning from anything other than a drugstore (of which we couldn't find any).

The first conversation of the day:

NeonV: uurgh... my head... holy shit the sun is going down already?!
Lasse: um no, it never came up.
NeonV: oh. Sounds... great. Oh my head...
Lasse: here, have some of this, it'll help *tosses bottle of Finlandia over*

Tampere sucks, you should've visited Turku instead.

(People from these towns "hate" eachother, I happen to live in Turku)

I was joking. I'm not originally from Turku. I'm from Kokkola. I moved to study at the loathed Åbo Akademi.

Tampere is nice, although I do prefer Turku. Tampere is too "industrial", makes me think of Gotham City.

Totally off-topic:

@NeonVomit, how many people in Great Britain actually think of themselves as British? Anyone else who lives there can comment aswell.

Um... I didn't exactly have a choice in the matter  However, I will ensure next time I visit Finland I wake up the next day having inexplicably relocated to Turku. Perhaps there I will be able to find aspirin...

People tend to think of themselves as 'English' or 'Scottish' or 'Welsh', but British as a whole. Much as people in America will think themselves as being from a particular state or ethnic background, but still American overall.

Of course, this is a vast generalisation, and while I live in London I'm hardly a native. Someone who's lived there longer would probably be in a better position to comment....

I asked because one English guy living in Turku said he is English, not British. Maybe he was an exception, a nationalist of some sort. But hardly, he was Catholic, aren't all good English patriots Anglicans? Nevermind...

I might be visiting UK next summer, I have to ask people. :)

Haha, that aspirin thing was great. And it's a wellknown fact in Finland that you cure a hangover with more alcohol, preferably a really strong alcohol like Koskenkorva, Finlandia or Leijona. And Viru Valge is also very good in curing hangovers. The best advise is, get aspirin before weekends. Or don't get a hangover. And actually the headache is inside your mind, it can just be thinked away :P

Yeah, I tried that on the drive back to Helsinki. Didn't work :(

I've decided I'm going to visit Finland again sometime in March, however. I really fell in love with the place (well, what I can remember of it anyhow :D)

Right, it seems inevitable... I'm coming to Finland again. Probably mid-March.

And this time, I'm not coming along... I'm bringing a friend. Who is... less stable than me.

Helsinki (and whichever other town we will inevitably end up in) beware!

God help us...

Be sure to take some drugs with you. You can put some in your socks so you will not have problems trying to find them when you're desperately in need of them.
