Just looking at those pics gives me the shivers!!!! :shud:
Damn that's cold! Miditek's flames must have died down somewhat.Jabi wrote:We had -31 'C (-24 'F) in Tampere, Finland last night.
So that makes it even HARDER to get aspirin there on a Saturday morning...Jabi wrote:We had -31 'C (-24 'F) in Tampere, Finland last night.
In Alabama we are freezing when it falls to 30 degrees F. and when it drops to 0 degrees F.(very rare), we think we are entering the New Ice Age!Jabi wrote:We had -31 'C (-24 'F) in Tampere, Finland last night.
There really is a saying like that there? Coolbrowneyedgirl wrote:Now I know how that saying, "colder than a well-diggers ass in Finland" came about!
Don't worry, it's getting warmer now. The temperatures are not this low in March, normally.NeonVomit wrote:So that makes it even HARDER to get aspirin there on a Saturday morning...
Yeah... I need heat. I come from a warm placeCarcass wrote:There really is a saying like that there? Coolbrowneyedgirl wrote:Now I know how that saying, "colder than a well-diggers ass in Finland" came about!

Having hangover in -30 is a lot better than having it in +30. Compare that temperature with a humid air and you don't even have to drink to feel like having a hangover. Horrible for a northern guy.
That is so Cool! :headbang:

Hehehe - it looks like Ozone Al has a little bit of explaining to do.Paying out nearly $30,000 USD per year for natural gas and electric utility bills alone sort of negates his Oscar, as far as the PR factor is concerned.
I liked Gore a lot better when our hometown newspaper's cartoonist, (the nationally syndicated) Bruce Plante of the Times/Free-Press, used to caricature him as a 6' foot 2"X4" piece of lumber (sporting a beard). 8)What's even funnier is that Plante, like Gore, is a liberal himself!
To suggest that Gore is at least a bit hypocritical is really not too much of a stretch. Moreover, one does have to wonder how much fuel his mini-caravan of GMC Suburbans with Secret Service agents in tow, consumes when the family decides to go out for dinner some evening?

Yep. Everybody has an Achilles Heel(weakness), and God help us when word of what our weakness is falls into the wrong hands to be used against us. In politics, this ploy is actually used to some extent.Carcass wrote:Find me a single person who isn't.NeonVomit wrote:Find me a single politician who isn't a lying hypocrite.
It's the human character and politicians are human too, so...browneyedgirl wrote:Yep. Everybody has an Achilles Heel(weakness), and God help us when word of what our weakness is falls into the wrong hands to be used against us. In politics, this ploy is actually used to some extent.
I know plenty of good, honest people who theoretically would make fantastic politicians.Carcass wrote:Find me a single person who isn't.NeonVomit wrote:Find me a single politician who isn't a lying hypocrite.

I know one personally. It's former Chattanooga mayor, and now U.S. Senator, Bob Corker (R-TN).NeonVomit wrote:Examples?Carcass wrote:Saying that each and every politician are rotten to the core is cynical populist crap. In my humble opinion, of course.
In Finland we have these silly celebrity runners (rockers, rappers, sportsmen...). And then we have voters that are even sillier, they actually give them their votes! The result is that we have clowns like Tony Halme (you might know him from WWE as Ludvig Borga) in the parliament who call the President lesbian.miditek wrote:Being a musician though, as opposed to an accountant, lawyer, or businessman probably would not help though. Many voters want not only people that come from the business or public service sector, but also people that are honest and can actually demonstrate problem solving skills.
Interesting, I did not know that. And say what you will about the guy (he's just as much a crook as most other presidents you could mention) but he knows how to give a speech.miditek wrote:Believe it or not, Bill Clinton did not personally have a great deal of money when he got elected. I'd sooner quit breathing than quit my studies in music. I was simply using myself as an example! I have no aspirations to run for any sort of elected position. I'd rather keep out of politics altogether and just critisize them from the safety of my anonymityI'm not saying don't run, but isn't it a bit late to switch your major from music to political science or the law?![]()

Yeah, what I was getting at is that Clinton was not exactly loaded during his tenure as AG and governor, but he is pulling in some huge numbers ($40 million so far, according to Forbes) for his speaking engagements now. Yep, I think he's a crook, and I also agree that he certainly has a gift for oratory, Southern accent not withstanding.NeonVomit wrote:Interesting, I did not know that. I understand, and I don't blame you. Being a musician (full time) is difficult, which is why I went into that hellhole known as IT- and it is much easier than trying to make a living off of music. As you mentioned previously, I think that Jens said it best, regarding the challenges of music and actually paying the bills.NeonVomit wrote:I'd sooner quit breathing than quit my studies in music.
