I love Edu's voice to death, but after hearing this, it's official, every band should have at least one duet with Hansi.
Brilliant fucking song

Then you're the reason his voice died shortly after the Rebirth tour!
Eh...he's a ok singer (I guess ) but somewhat atrocious in a live setting. He is definitely the weak link in the band...

Mr Matos, on the other hand, is a legend!

I will never understand all the fuzz about Andre Matos. I like Edu 100 times better than his thin, whiney voice. I really can't stand him.

On the old Angra albums, Angels Cry and Holy Land, his voice was about as thin as Jenn during her bouts of anorexia. But if you search for RituaLive concert videos on youtube, you'll see he sounds totally different these days.
If you didn't like him then, I doubt you'll like him now. I agree he was pretty whiny in the old days but I thought it gave the music some character. :umbrella:

Holy Land bored me to death, Angels Cry was nice, but not as good as Rebirth.

Everybody (or at least most of us) loves Rebirth, even my sister-in-law that isn't a metal fan loved it :D

I've listened to Angra, Shaman and his solo stuff. And yes, while he got better on the later releases, I still don't really like him. I prefer Edu.

And is it just me or did Tobias Sammet take a lot of inspiration from Andre Matos? I remember this one Shaman song were both would sing together and I couldn't tell them apart.

I much prefer Andre. I don't think they're even in the same league. I think Andre has one of the prettiest voices ever.

That said, I actually consider Edu a pretty good singer too. But I really don't like the way he was singing in Aurora Consurgens.

It seems to me that some people don't like his voice at all, whereas others (like myself) just love it.

Anyways... I don't think his voice has anything to do with Tobias'? In fact, I think Tobias' voice sounds a lot like Bruce Dickinson's, though their singing styles are very different.

I was sad when I realized Andre wasn't part of Angra anymore (I started listening to Angra during the Rebirth tour), but after having listened to his solo discography and also the two (and the only two, imo) Shaaman albums, I realized that the break up spawned two great bands, it's a win-win situation.

I'm very excited about the upcoming album. Achiles was a great drummer, but I think Ricardo will bring back some brazilian music influences that were lost somewhere during the creation of Aurora Consurgens.

One more episode is out. Great stuff, reminds me of the Polaris production videos, shows mostly the guys having fun but also a short clip of one of the songs as they're rehearsing. Sounds really promising so far.

I like to see other peoples thoughts. Always nice to know that everyone is different. I for myself love Edu's voice. Especially on Aurora Consurgens. :)

"Pretty" voices never really appeal to me much. Don't understand the appeal. But Andre just seems like a stereotypical, albeit talented, power metal vocalist. He's a Kiske type, whereas Edu is more akin to say, Hansi Kursch, my favorite Power Metal vocalist. Great pitch range, but more importantly, a great tone range, and POWER.

There's a school of thought in Power Metal that the power is purely in the pitch and purity. I have, certainly, a different definition of power, not sure I could describe it, but Edu's voice certainly has it.
Also, Holy Land bored me to tears, and I don't think I ever bothered listening to Fireworks, Angels Cry was nice.
Compare that to Rebirth being a Power Metal masterpiece, Temple of Shadows just being wall to wall awesome, and Aurora Consurgens being an ultra heavy power metal joyride.

Yes, he's probably the most recognizable metal artist in the country, he's very patient with the press too so he's always on MTV and giving interviews. But I don't think I've ever seen his band playing on mainstream TV (I've seen Angra on mainstream TV some times, though).

"Aqua" sounds like a shitty title for an album, but that single was damn cool. Can't wait for the CD to be released :)!

Well the new album is based on The Tempest by Shakespeare. That was about a storm. So there was lot's of water I guess! :P

And I agree. Arising Thunder is really, really cool.

Well, I haven't listened to it yet, but, if it sounds like TOS, that's great! It is my all-time favorite Angra album. :D I'm so glad they are back.

Don't get me wrong, I also think TOS is one of their greatest album along with "Rebirth" and "Angels Cry", but lately I find TOS and AA very similar musically, and if "Aqua" is similar to those too, I would then feel a lil' dissapointed :?

Yeah, it's bad quality because it is recorded from radio. The debuted it on some radio station a few days ago.

The new Angra album is simply fantastic. Very progressive and not quite as heavy as the last two albums. The vibe of the songs are roughly a union between "The Shadow Hunter" and Kiko Loureiro's solo albums.

Edu Falaschi gives the vocal performance of a 70 year old chain smoker hooked up to a hospital respirator, but in terms of musicality this clearly surpasses anything they've ever done.
