But yeah, I've lost faith in Sammet for the last few years. His last Edguy album was terrible. His last Avantasia was mediocre, and this one seems like it's going to be pretty bad.

Not to mention I cannot stand how pretentious he's getting.

I just listened to the samples and I think it's not that bad. Apart from Dying For An Angel I think the songs sounds quite good. At least better than The Scarecrow.

Normal human beings come here to express their thoughts on music. You come here to harass people about their personal opinions. People just like to talk, Icetruck! It may not be scientifically accurate, mathematically rigorous, or in your case, grammatically correct, but that's the way interpersonal communication works! :crazy1:

It’s different if they say they don't like the material, but when they say the compositions are bad, I feel an explanation on their thoughts would be more productive to a conversation.

1) What is wrong with too many keyboards?
2) Which songs have too many keyboards? Which parts?
3) Prove there are too many keyboards in those songs and sections.
4) If you don't have anything positive to say about keyboards, stay out of the thread. You're ruining it for everyone who likes them.
5) In the other thread you said you liked Sonata Arctica, that has keyboards, so you're a hypocrite.

I see what you're saying, but this forum isn't that big. We (kinda) know the people and are interested in each others opinions.

But in essence, all conversation is truly pointless, and especially about art. Lets face it, its all subjective. Is it even possible to express scientifically what you don't like about a song, and be consistent about your criteria? I doubt it.

I’m not asking any questions of people that say they "don't like something", just those that are calling the song quality bad, and asking why they think the song is of bad quality. To me quality is a skill level question, and a skill is the ability to do a task for a specific purpose.

If the song was written for the writer to enjoy and the writer does enjoy the song, then in that context the song would be a skilled and well written song. In many other contexts the song can be unskilled and not a well written song, so I’m just trying to find the context the person is judging from if they are going to comment about quality rather than liking or disliking the song.
