Something that got my attention...If black metal is for white people only, then if we don't want to be acussed of racist, we should create "white metal" for niggas ?!

A well-respected Canadian jazz drummer and composer (Morgan Childs, definitely worth checking out if you're into that sort of thing) once asked why they call it 'black metal' when it is 'the whitest music imaginable', basically pointing out the lack of groove or improvisation in most of it and how it is pretty much the antithesis of MOBO (music of black origin) in almost all respects. While a purposefully facetious comment and perhaps not the best analogy imaginable, he did raise an interesting point, and brought attention to the issue of how so many black metallers play black metal more through a lack of skill than anything else. This is certainly the case with many black metal bands that I have personally known.

(It should be noted that Childs is very much Caucasian himself.)

I do love black metal and I have even got a Darkthrone wallpaper on my phone, but I have little patience for bands who play 'trve kvlt underground black metal' and use their genre as an excuse for sloppy musicianship and horrendous production.

Another issue I should point out is that I am writing in this manner because I have been reading through UK criminal legislation for the past three hours and am currently letting my brain cool down, and quit drinking 2 weeks ago and will stay dry for the next 3 weeks, thereby leaving only this forum as my preferred form of relief.
