Someone made a similar poll with guitarists a while back, and I was wondering, who do you think is the best vocalist in the genre?

Ohh fuck, like i could choose...

I LOVE Tony's and Timo's voices but if we're talking about skill, i guess i have to say Kiske or Hansi..

for me is between Matos and Kiske, they are powerfull when they need to be, and a hell of a wide range. In the end I vote Kiske cause his voice still awesome like in the 80ss

I wonder if there'll be any votes for poor Andi..

I love his voice, it's so different from the usual power metal sound but i couldn't put him before those other guys.

Anyway, chalk one up for Kiske! :luv1:

Well, you put Rusell Allen, and Symphony X is not exactly a power metal band. It is more prog than power.
Anyway, as you put it, for me the best of that singers is Russell Allen. It is one of my three favourite metal singers.
If I see the best I understand that we are talking about versatility and skill.

Oooh tough one. Between Timo Kotipelto and Hansi Kurch for me. RD Liapakis gets an honourable mention too, I like his more aggressive but still melodic style.

Until 2006 it was Roy Khan from Kamelot IMO. But it seems he lost his voice somehow after 2006. They started playing the songs in a lower key, and still he sounds strained.

I don't know who is the best these days. I like Edu Falaschi, Andi Deris, Michael Kiske the most I think.

I just can't choose between Timo Kotipelto and Michael Kiske. They both are best Power Metal vocalists for me. Kai Hansen, Andre Matos and Jorn Lande are also great vocalists.

It's not strange. It's your opinion like I have mine. People have different opinions, you know. :)

Deris and Falaschi would be tied for #2. But Hansi is the only realistic option

Kiske here. Considering that we're talking Power metal and not classic rock. :)

Well I don't know about "best", but my favorite is Andi, of course :) Kotipelto probably comes at # 2 and I think Jonny Lindqvist needs to be on the list! He is absolutely fucking brilliant!

I think andy rocks some of the helloween songs...but when he sings oldies like, eagle fly free , future world......all the kiske era....I want to puch him to death really, they should be more like when sammy hagar joined van halen and drifted apart from all the david lee roth songs...just play the extremely necessary hits and move foward

I personally prefer Jarmo Pääkkönen of Excalion but TK sure is one great vocalist too.

Yet my vote goes for Russell Allen who is maybe the most talented of all.

Yea that's why I said he was my favorite, rather than "he's the best". I know he's probably not as "technically perfect" as Kiske, but he does have a pretty unique voice, not to mention he is an awesome frontman and songwriter. I also think they should do less Keeper era songs live, I like how Andi sings them - especially March of Time or A Tale That Wasn't Right, but there are so many great songs from 1994 forward that I'd rather hear. The set list from the Rabbit Don't Come Easy Tour was like the perfect balance between classics and Deris era songs, they should try something like that again!

Hard question!
Slightly I prefer Hansi before Kiske and Allen.

Symphony X is not power metal for me, but anyway :)

Welll, people being on the Stratovarius forum sort of indicates that it's one of their favourite bands. I don't post on any other band forums with any degree of regularity, and Strato are one of my favourite bands, so it all makes sense, really.

Just a few songs...like for example...Dragon's Den? But no, it is not a power metal band. It is not as prog as others, many times they have more speed, bombastic sound than other prog bands, and mix that with prog, but you can't say it's a power metal band. Anyway, Allen is in the choice, and that's cool :D
