Bad: Some black metal album my friend gave me..I still can't get into that genre!
Good: I'm having a hard time thinking wich album i've spinned more, SA's Ecliptica or Dream Theater's Images & Words..Propably Ecliptica.

I got Dream Theater's Black Clouds and Silver Linings for free, and it was so goddamn bad that I threw it in the garbage after giving it three listens. Terrible, terrible, FUCKING TERRIBLE CD that was absolutely worthless by the most overrated band in existence. I have never hated a CD as much as that in my entire life.
I take care of the CDs I love though, so the only CD I've ever rebought after losing/breaking it was System of a Down's Mesmerize. Other than that, I've never had an issue with having to rebuy the CDs I love.

Bad: Can't name anything REALLY bad. If I hate something, I don't remember it. But pretty much every black metal album is crap.
Good: Anything that involves Arjen Lucassen. Love his music.

What do you mean bad? It's not their best CD (in my ranking it is 8th CD), but comparing to other bands it is still very very good. I.e not to compare with other genres (IMO prog metal is from definition the best

:D) but let's take SX "Paradise Lost", which for me it is a boring CD with some good songs, but most of them are in the same schema.
I could understand you only if you were a DT fan, because it was a little bit disapointing release.
I've never heard BC&SL is totally crap. Totally crap is i.e. some Hammerfall relases, or Sabaton's Metalizer or Legacy III or some other 100xused melodies.
And DT it not overrated. They were (maybe not now) pioniers in their genre, just like Judas Priest in heavy metal and Gamma Ray in speed metal. Almost every progmetal band now was or is inspirated by DT.
Back to the point.
I have never thrown any CD, but my last big disapointment was "Tinnitus Sanctus". I think it is dirty from not being used.
My CDs are in good shape, but probably some Blind Guardian CDs are getting worse (especially old ones)

Unless pioniers means something COMPLETELY different than pioneers, you just failed so hard it hurts.

There was a demo cd from a band in Cyprus that some friends of mine put out. Really great guys, but unfortunately not able to grasp the concept of an original riff or recording instruments in time. It sounded not entirely unlike a train wreck in a bowling alley. I pretended to lose it so as not to have a reason to tell them if I liked it or not, but it was so awful I did just want to cry.
On the flipside, I had to track down a new copy of Shadow Gallery - Carved in Stone a while back (which was a lot harder than I expected) because it got all napped up.

There are a lot of younger people buying cds too.
Not too many since they don't have the money or the patience to buy albums.

I wasn't around in the 80's yet i have, yes HAVE to buy albums by the bands i like. It just feels so much better owning an album then just having a file of it.

And wasting space on something you will anyways just store in your hard drive to listen to?

Think of the trees, the Trees!

Err....
That doesn't make any sense.
Who would steal albums to protect the environment?

Good: Almost every Strato and Dream Theater album (although you can discard Strato's self-titled, and DT's "Black Clouds etc...")
Bad: Some grindcore album (don't ask me which band) a friend told me to buy...And people say I listen to just noise

What's with all the hate for Black Clouds and Silver Linings? I think that album is brilliant. I never thought that Dream Theater would top Scenes From A Memory. Much to my amazement, I think they did with Black Clouds...
Back to topic...
I am happy to say that I have never bought an album that I totally hated. I can usualy find something on any CD I've bought that makes it worth keeping in the collection. But the one that I was most dissappointed by? Probably Angel Down from Sebastian Bach. If it wasn't for Roy Z and Desmond Child's contributions, that CD would be worthless.
Most worn out album? Seventh Son of a Seventh Son by Maiden. I've re-bought that album 3 times because I keep wearing it out.

No you can NOT!

Self Titled is good and Black Clouds is really good.

@ Maddest Hatter: I'm not saying the album sucks, in fact I like it. But among all the albums DT have relased, it's the weakest (like I've said in a topic somewhere here, Dream Theater have been releasing the "same kind of sound" in their last 3 albums; and besides I don't know you, but I'm getting tired of extremelly long songs. It's just an excuse to play them live, fill the show up a few minutes, and make short setlists

)
@ Kosmo: Why you always have to say the contrary I write

?!

The Days of G(r)ays is a pretty good album!
I was listening to it again today and I was amazed at how much more mature and consistent it is than their earlier releases.
Of course, its not "Power Metal" and you need to open your mind a bit.
Unia is a piece of shit though.

You must be trolling me.
But seriously, I listen to about an equal spread of prog and power. DoG is just really shitty prog.
