I couldn't sleep, so I had all the time to create topic about this new 'Dutch Proud.'
Some more info:


Stream of Passion is a progressive metal band with symphonic metal influence founded by Arjen Anthony Lucassen and Marcela Bovio. Because the musicians in the band lived thousands of miles apart, Lucassen composed the group's debut album, Embrace the Storm, over the Internet. It was released on October 24, 2005 on Inside Out records.

With the exception of vocalist Marcela Bovio, who had appeared on Ayreon's album The Human Equation, Lucassen selected little-known musicians to form this band. (Like Timo in the past)

Stream Of Passion was forced to cancel part of their European tour in February 2007, when they were stopped by United Kingdom immigration officials. The band were scheduled to play two UK shows, one in London and one in Sheffield. The officials at their entry point of Calais had suspicion that three of the members of the band, who were of Mexican origin, were planning on taking up illegal residence in the country.

Although the appropriate documents were presented, and there was assistance from concert promoters, embassy officials, and other immigrant officials, the matter was not rectified in time for the shows.

Never heard of them, but sounds promising

Indeed Arjen Lucassen and Marcela Bovio the singer worked together on the first album. Then Arjen decided to work on the new Ayreon album '0100101' and the band found a new line-up. To be honest I like them more in this formation. Arjen wasn't bad or something, but you can see that these people have a special chemistry on stage.

At the moment they are working on new material, a new album is scheduled this year!

Another Within Temptation or Epica. I'm not saying, that it's bad, but I'm just tired with that kind of bands. Please note, that this is only my opinion, so don't become angry.

I don't want to argue with anyone. I'm just tired with that kind of music. That's it. Please don't take this too seriously.

I am not angry, but that's total bullshit. SoP is full of prog elements, WT is gothic and Epica is symphonic. They are TOTALLY different.

within temptation and epica are very different as is.

Uh... I wouldn't classify WT as gothic, but then again what the hell do genre definitions mean. Just I think of stuff like Christian Death, Sisters of Mercy and Type O Negative if I think of 'gothic'. And then of course, some proper hardcore goth would come along and tell me I'm thinking of the totally wrong thing and I know nothing of gothic music and slag me off for what I believe it to be, so whatever.

Anyway, I've liked what I heard of SoP.

The keyboardplayer of SoP is the boyfriend of a very good friend of mine. He's a nice guy and the band is really good.

well back to the subject, don't think SOP is the new Epica or something. First of all she is a better singer and second the songs are more progressive, what means that you need more brains to listen to it haha. Ok Epica isn't bad, especially their recent album is a good one, but if you are tired of those high soprano's I think this band is worth to give it a try.
