I think it's great theater- telling the CBS execs to go fuck themselves, etc.
While we're on the subject, please feel free to go fuck
yourself, you crack smoking cretin...

This is a trainwreck in progress. He will either end up dead from overdosing or eventually become clean and respected again as Robert Downey Jr. once did ... I think he's a decent actor, so I hope for the second outcome.

I agree, and hope it is the latter as well. A lot of people that I know that do counseling (psychologists, etc.) say that a person has to hit rock bottom before they will make any real lifestyle changes. The problem is though that a lot of people have died on the way down before hitting the bottom.
I think that Charlie is a good dramatic actor, but is even better in comedy. I think that is his true calling.

Indeed, and Charlie Sheen is still very far from rock bottom. He still has money to party and he still thinks he's a king of the world.

He'd better go soon, though. I have him on my dead pool this year, if he goes I get over 50 points which would put me in the lead.

It's difficult for me to imagine someone with a net worth of between $85-$100 million dollars hitting the bottom (skid row) any time soon- it'll be more like the 'dying on the way down' that I've heard certain doctors describe. Even with private Lear Jets filled with suitcases of coke and cash, in addition to a gaggle of porn stars and other whores, it's unlikely he'll burn through his fortune before he hits the bottom.
Still, I feel bad for his father in particular, as well as the rest of his family and his kids too. I doubt if he can sustain this type of lifestyle for very much longer.

But isn't all this attention on Charlie's activities kind of "enabling"? It's like extreme voyeurism, or something. I mean, not much attention is staked on him getting better but is only broadcasting his "sins". And I bet he is loving this attention!

There's a reason I never pick Keith Richards for my dead pool lists. While I wouldn't quite put Charlie Sheen into the same category, you'd be amazed what people can live through, but I'm betting on him not making it.

Ozzy Osbourne is still alive too, but that's probably because all the alcohol and drugs he took are preserving his body, sort of like mummifying him even before death. He will live forever.

It is amazing that Richards is still among the living, although I've always liked him and admired his approach to songwriting and guitar playing. He's also a pretty good bassist as well.

There's another one that amazes me with his survival- in fact, it's still more impressive that all four of the original Sabbath members are still alive in 2011. Who would have thought
that could have happened?
Honorable mentions for the "
Heroin As Health Food Survival Club" could also include Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Ronnie Wood, James Taylor, and at least several others.
