I just hope none of his fanatic followers get the crazy notion of avenging Bin Laden's death, and cause another 9/11 somewhere in the world.

About time. Justice served? I don't know, a quick painless death can hardly be seen as suitable punishment for the crimes he committed, but it was best this way, get it over and done with as fast as possible. Dumping the body into the sea was a nice touch. In general, one hell of a ballsy call for Obama to make given the evidence, mostly circumstantial with no positive identification available.

One thing to bear in mind: Bin Laden may be dead, but al-Qaeda certainly is not. The fight cannot stop here.

I'm just glad he's gone, hopefully now that their symbol to rally behind is gone many of the splinter factions will break up after a short while.

I doubt it would change much. A man's death means nothing, and shouldn't be of joy even if he was of an evil kind.

I just hope the attacks get less and less frequent however at this juncture nothing surprises me

Apparently this mission had been planned and kept secret a long time. Even Obama himself was surprised at how flawlessly it panned out. The authorities have pics of the body, and DNA results to prove that it indeed was Osama, plus his wife was with him when the capture(assassination)took place and agreed to the burial at sea.
However, yes, there are skeptics, people who want to believe this was mission story was a lie just to give Obama brownie points, or whatever. These conspiracy theory sites should simply be embarassed at their past insistence that Osama was dead, but they are even more hateful than ever. It really hurts those characters to be proven wrong, I guess.

Can I just state my opinion? I don't mourn the death of Bin laden, in fact if anything I'm relieved that a dangerous mass murderer won't be able to plot any more attacks against innocent civilians. But at the same time, I really don't feel the need to go out and celebrate his death. I was shocked when I saw people in muslim countries celebrating the death of thousands of civilians after 9/11, but do we really have to lower ourselves to the same barbaric level? If I was an american, I would go to the cemetery and light candles for the civilian victims of 9/11 and the 10 years of war and madness that followed, rather than grab a case of beer in one hand and a flag in the other and go get wasted. That's my two cents. Hope you understand.

Re OBL, I'm not exactly celebrating.. but good riddance. Fuck'im. For me it's not a time to be scared of more attacks.
