I have been without consistent internet for some time and found out today about Steve Job's passing away. This is very sad...

I have been mac user for many years now, and you can always feel how Steve Jobs breathes life into everything that Apple releases. It all has his magic touch and he gives part of his soul to you. Without his passion and energy, the company would not be the same.

I am curious about how this company will change now. Is the peak still to come, or all downhill from here? How will the company vision change?

Now, I hear Tim Cook is the new guy. But in my opinion, Apple cannot exist without Steve Jobs. It is like Nightwish without Tuomas Holopainen. It is just a different company now. I think, the moral thing to do will be to change the name.

Don't you think its a bit lame to call it Apple without Steve Jobs? They are only keeping their brand name for the money, and it is no longer about changing the world.

But, it is just my opinion and of course there are many ways to look at things. I hope we can have this discussion respectfully.

Out of respect for Steve Jobs I think the Apple name should remain. He named the company Apple for quite a few reasons. One, because he worked in an apple orchard several years. Matter of fact, the company itself is built among apple orchards. Two, the bitten apple logo is symbolic--its the company's trend to delve into things rather forbidden, like Eve and the apple.

Why would they change the name?
They don't even have anything to do with Steve Jobs.

Yes, since 98% of the composition was written by Timo Tolk--- I mean Steve Jobs.

And Apple's drummer is leaving. They most certainly HAVE to change it.

I understand what you say, but the fact is that the current Apple simply is a different organization, which is in a totally different style than the company run by Steve Jobs. They are pissing on his art by selling deeply personal products like Ipod which he dedicated to his first wife Laurene Powell. I agree that the Apple is symbolic but it has always been Steve Jobs' symbol and what current lineup of Apple is doing is simply pure evil, to me...

(BTW, That was a local children's program back in the early '60s, a host dressed as a pirate. They showed Bugs Bunny, and the 3 Stooges. )
