I agree!!!!

Up to a point.......

This movement has called attention to the plight of the underpaid, underemployed underclass who have had enough bullshit from the blue-blooded snurly nosed rich.

As long as the occupiers keep their protests civilized, focused, and do their thing without violence i do not see any problems with this growing movement.
This movement has literally spread all over the world. It is evident people are fed up.

As for the Tea Party, I have two words: Fuck you! :fuckoff:
The occupiers are sometimes compared to the GOP oriented Tea Party which is totally wrong. The Tea Party is a whole different animal focusing mainly on right wing solutions to the economic problems of the world.

Well, it seems now the police are getting involved in alot of these protests. Mainly the ones where the people have set up tent cities in parks, and such. If people are not raising Hell i don't see why the police have to become involved. On the other hand if these people are using the bathroom everywhere, making alot of noise, and blocking traffic I guess they had to do something. I hope this was not done just to try to quiet them down because it's too late for that. lol People have gotten the point, and 53% agree with the protesters. That's not counting people who agree and are keeping quiet about it.

I walk past the Occupy London bunch on my way to work every day. They protest against capitalism while tweeting from their iPhones and pitching tents they bought from Asda (a Wal-Mart company) and buying coffee from Starbucks. I try not to laugh but it doesn't work.

Boycotting companies doesn't work, usually. And, what is a person supposed to do in this tech age--do without? Everything made for consumption and use in the world is made by corporations, from clothes, and electronics to toilet paper. And I know these people probably don't wipe their ass on corncobs.

It's the blatant hypocrisy of these people that irks me. Who can afford to spend all their time camping out? Most of my many unemployed friends are far too busy looking for a job to do something like that, and everyone else is too busy, well, working to protest. Which leads me to the conclusion that most of these people have enough economic breathing space to do that - i.e. the people who have the least to complain about the current system.

I understand the frustrations with the banks.

But I don't understand their frustrations with the 1% thing. Sure, the trickle-down economics doesn't work, but those who are rich are rich because they tried and won.

The top 1% wealthiest Americans paid more in taxes than the bottom 95% (in 2007). Its absurd to blame them for our problems, when they single-handedly put USA on the map.

Rich people pay a lot of taxes, that's a good thing. No rich people means less taxes.

There were series of protests in Israel too, during the summer months. Since all the protest leaders said was the same socialist mumbo-jumbo I heard when I lived in USSR, I laughed at them, becuase it was clear that those people have no idea what are they talking about.

Same thing happened here. There even was really funny interview with the guy who complained that his iPad (or some other Apple product) was stolen from the tent he put in the middle of Tel-Aviv.

the top 1 has more wealth than the bottom 95 of course they would pay more in taxes unless taxes are regressive.

The bottom 40 percent, on average, make a profit from the federal income tax, meaning they get more money in tax credits than they would otherwise owe in taxes. For those people, the government sends them a payment.

Of course, these policies are very popular among the bottom 40%. Buying votes is a big part of the democratic system.

The point is that taxes aren't linear. The bottom 47% pays zero incomes taxes. Not just a percentage of their meager income- none whatsoever.

100% of people pay no income tax at that level. everyone gets the deductions. the rich get the deductions, the poor get the deductions, the rich have access to more deductions.

People in the USA are very wasteful, and take what they do have for granted, plus there is the snobby attitude that even middle class is guilty of many times. I think one day we will all pay for this "selfishness" and everyone will know what real hard times is really like.

No. As I have stated many, many times, the top 1% pay 40% of the total taxes and the bottom 50% contribute nothing. Literally. 0%.

noone pays tax on the first money they earn. the rich get the same tax break as the poor and more. the rich are able to get more tax breaks in addition to the tax breaks the poor get.

if we look as fica taxes
poor people pay it on 100% of what they earn.
rich people pay it on a smaller percentage depending on how much they make as they only have to pay up to a certain amount or make their money off previous money.

if we combine income and fica taxes, poor people can be paying 15% between their own and company costs with rich people paying less because of breaks and shelters that rich have access to.
