Another communist piece of shit is dead.

And there was much rejoicing.

Ain't that the truth! But what if his successor is lots worse? As in that movie, "Land of the Blind".

Almost all those shitheads are dead, or dying---what will us freethinkers do when we don't have those rogue leaders to bash? :D

And now that the american troops are out of Iraq they can go to spread "freedom", "Liberty" and "Democracy" to North-Korea. Well that is exactly what they have done since the WW1 wheter the people want their "freedom" or not.
And no I am not a communist or even anti-american. I am just disappointed with the country it has become. Until the end of the cold war it is easy to see America as a part of the "good guys" but now they seem to be committing a cultural suicide.

P.S.

There were a lot of dead dictators this year, wasn't there?

I wonder how many North Koreans are getting shot for not being able to fake sadness convincingly enough.

His son is supposed to take over now, but when?

With the North Korean people, so brainwashed as they are, they might just believe he's the son of Jesus Christ. I don't expect any change in the country's policy whatsoever.

North Korea is like Oceania from 1984, in lots of aspects. Invading it and exterminating their insane leadership won't make the situation there worse because it can't get any worse than whatever they have now.
Forget democracy, first feed the poor 20-something million North Koreans ...

Exactly, seems stupid even having to point this out, but overthrowing oppressive regimes doesn't necessarily make you the bad guy. Try reading some of the testimonies given by former citizens who made it out alive:

http://www.judiciary.senate.gov/hearing ... e18baf-2-1

Stories like that along with starvation, poverty and all the "freedom", "liberty" and "democracy" the government denies from its citizens aren't exactly what you could dismiss as "it's just their culture."

Well lets just say that I did not actually comment on the situation of North Korea. How does one take a country seriously if they claim that their leader controls the weather?

Yep, the same 'ol boring humdrum life of toil, and misery. And for what? :( On the news yesterday a night time satellite pic was shown, and the whole world was lit up like a Christmas tree except for North Korea. I think they are made to cut their lights off by 7pm? That is alot worse than even the Amish lifestyle--at least the Amish are allowed Rumspringa (the Amish equvialent to Spring break).

You can bet the new leader will have his share of wine, women, and song--he won't suffer from want one damn bit!

People seem to be missing him.
I just don't know if they are being honest, or if they are just being manipulated.

For the world, it would be just great if relationship between the US and North Korea would become just a little less hostile and relaxed, I think.

I too was deeply saddened that the great Dear Leader has passed.

Apparently they're getting specialists from China and Russia to help embalm his body. What is it with Communist leaders and embalming? You'd think the Egyptians would be the experts in that sort of area.

The Young General, the Great Successor Kim Jong-un is as yet untested as far as entertainment stakes go, but given the fact that he looks like how I imagine Squealer from Animal Farm and that he apparently already has diabetes and hypertension at the age of 27, I'm expecting great things from him!

I was disappointed his elder brother Kim Jong-nam was not named successor, (also the fact that he looks like a cross between Emperor Hirohito and an Ewok) but I guess going to Disneyland can have far-reaching consequences for one's career prospects as a Stalinist dictator, who would've thought, huh.

And our good friends at KCNA, the North Korean News Agency, have been on fine form the last few days.

Nature mourns Kim Jong-il
Ice cracked on a famous lake "so loud, it seemed to shake the Heavens and the Earth", and a mysterious glow was seen on a revered mountain top, KCNA said.

Following the storm's sudden end at dawn on Tuesday, a message carved in rock - "Mount Paektu, holy mountain of revolution. Kim Jong-il" - glowed brightly, it said. It remained there until sunset.

On the same say, a Manchurian crane also apparently adopted a posture of grief at a statue of the late leader's father in the northern city of Hamhung.

"Even the crane seemed to mourn the demise of Kim Jong-il, born of Heaven, after flying down there at dead of cold night, unable to forget him," KCNA reported officials as saying.
I love these people. Even though it was kinda lazy plagarism of Moses with the 12 commandments deal, excellent work!

The big question everyone is asking: what will change? Answer, absolutely nothing at all. The leadership of North Korea is greater than any one individual and they are master survivors. Even if it means trampling the life out of their own population, they will hold onto power.

Is the collapse of North Korea likely? I highly doubt it. If it does occur, what will happen? Millions of starving, uneducated people completely out of touch with the 21st century will flood South Korea and China; something that nobody wants. Ergo, the best thing for all involved is some sort of status quo, except of course if you happen to be living in North Korea, but if that's the case you're probably brainwashed into believing that you live in paradise and that Kim Il-Sung is like the God-Emperor of Dune, or something.

Leader passes, you so depress?

As a psychology student I can tell something's seriously wrong with that. Leader simply has changed form of existence, he now looks down on us all from the stars. In fact, he became the greatest of them all, and he shall illuminate our nights when the light sent by him reaches us. That lazy light...

Because you are a psychology student you are completely wrong. He does not look down on us from the stars he is part of Locale II and III now in something different from our physical life and Locale I. You don't know it because you are studying psychology and at a University. Instead of going out to the nature and learn from nature itself you are instead blocked by false facts taught by your psychologist masters.

Okay, I read in the news that instead of getting shot, they were "only" sent to hard labor camps for half a year.

Butt, about 40% of those sent to the camps never come back. And probably around 100% become traumatized for life. I think I'd rather be shot.
