RIP- Jon Lord, (1941-2012) one of the most badass keyboard players ever! He changed the course of rock history the day that he plugged his B-3 into a Marshall stack, and was Ritchie Blackmore's best sparring partner! IMHO, Blackmore & Lord laid the groundwork in the '70's for things that would come from Yngwie & Jens later on in the '80s.

A sad sad day in the history of rock and roll. I knew he was diagnosed with with cancer, but somehow thought he would recover. Unfortunately he did not. Being a keyboard player myself I have been inspired by many wonderful players. Yet, there was only one man that guided me towards the hammond organ. There is a reason 2 leslie speakers found it's way into my house. And this guy is. He was one of the first to make the keyboard distinctive in a band situation as far as rock music is concerned. (Well, at least to my ears) But please don't forget his classical influences. A lot of good albums came from that. I'm sad about his passing, but his legacy is tremendous. A lot of purple music will come out of my speakers today!
