Tragedy in Brazil(Nightclub Fire)

Over 200 lives lost plus many, many serious injuries. There have been quite a few of these horrific fires, and each one seems to get worse. It seems to always point to a fire beginning with the careless use of pyrotechic devices. In this particular case the security guards actually tried to keep people from fleeing because these idiots thought the people were just trying to keep from paying their bar tabs! A large number of bodies were found at the back near the restrooms, and many were trampled in the panic.
It was a combination of factors which led to such large loss of life. Also, filling a 500 capacity area with over 1,000 people(or more) I'm sure added to the confusion that occurred in that inferno.
Care to weigh in? What should clubs do to insure this kind of thing does not happen again, and if it does how can the injuries and loss of life be lessened?

I `ve read that was the vocalist of the band perfoming there who light a flaregun of some kind and burn the place to the ground (smoooke on the water- -------im going to hell.)
anyways this kind of practice is very common, (let more people in that the place can hold)
there should be more restrictions about that, of course professional security guys (this is not always possible) and dont let any assholes perform in such small places.

alot of someones actually.

This past weekend there was a horrible fire in a rock club and over 200 people were killed, and many were injured. This event was all over the news for quite a number of days.
I guess people in USA don't take notice of stuff like this unless it happens in their backyard, or something.

Is God really black? Like in that one movie with Jim Carrey?

Similar incident in Rhode Island several years ago at a Great White gig where around a hundred people (including GW guitarist Ty Longley) perished.

Many people who had loved ones who died in that fire in RI are still grieving that needless tragedy.
My son and his band plays in various clubs in Huntsville, and the surrounding area and as he said, these kinds of things could be easily prevented from occurring in the first place. For one thing, don't pack a club too full, another, don't use pyrotechnics indoors, and finally, have at least 3 exits, and have them well lighted. Also, people who attend these events need to take in their surroundings and notice the environment around them. Have fun, but keep in mind the safety factors of things, too.

Wasn't there a W Bush joke with the punch line "how many are a brazilion again?" Anyway I don't particularly like soccer.
I often think to check the emergency exits of any place I play (especially in .... some places). The idea is often to shut the emergency doors with chains and locks, you know, you don't want anyone sneaking in without paying! And you certainly don't want to waste money hiring guards to watch the exits instead of locking them.
In this last fire there was also the (quite strange) Brazilian bar tab system at play. When the fire broke out, they didn't want to let people out for a few moments because they wanted the bar tabs to be paid first...
To me this is a perfect example of more government red tape being needed. Sometimes people and corporations just don't do the sensible thing by themselves.
And of course it's a nightmare for any musician. You play a show to try to make people happy. Instead you manage to get them incinerated...

Well, this particular idea would be a personal problem for me though. I mean it's not as if I can go play at an arena and the other guys in the band still go to the small club....

W. *is* a joke, so it's only natural to figure that everything he says has a punch line.

George Bush is in a meeting with his cabinet, and Donald Rumsfeld walks in to give a briefing on the war. "Mr. President, today in the war in Iraq, 3 Brazillion soldiers were killed."
Bush puts his head in his hands and moans, "Oh NO, 3 brazillians

" The Cabinet is shocked, because Bush doesn't normally react to foreign casualties. Then he lifts his head up and says, "Wait a minute - how many's in a Brazillion?"
here is one joke with such punchline.

That cat looks just like my cat, Target.

If he is like my cat he could be the ball, my husband kicked my cat for running under his feet.

Well, not actually kick him, Target ran in front of his foot and he just kept walking, and the cat was sent flying into the air.

It didn't hurt him, I think he liked it, he thought hubby was just playing with him.
